CB350G engine rebuild - O-Ring questions
« on: July 06, 2012, 08:42:56 AM »
Tried searching the forum and reading engine rebuild threads to answer this question.

I'm putting an engine back together after replacing a shredded cam tensioner and cam chain. When I pulled the engine apart, I noticed that a crushed O-Ring dropped out (I think when I removed the head from cyl), but I'm not sure where this would have gone. The parts fiche that I've looked at doesn't seem to show any O-Rings in the engine aside from the ones at the bottom of the cyl. I have a gasket kit, but it doesn't seem to have any small O-Rings.

Can anyone confirm that there should OR should not be O-Rings as I assemble the engine - and if needed, provide size or diagram showing placement?

Thanks!

Hi Petersan,
I think it's possible that the o-ring may have come from one of the rocker arm/ valve adjustment shafts. There are 4 of those shafts;when the cam tower's are installed along w/ the camshaft, there needs to be an o-ring underneath the washer and locknut for each shaft.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
