Great work johno  ;) .Like you,I had my cases vapour blasted and the results were visually fantastic . I knew from the beginning  that I'd have to do a comprehensive cleaning up job , but after reading some of the posts on here it soon became apparent to me that I'd have to do a much more detailed clean up than I'd first envisaged .   I'm hoping to be starting my engine build in the near future ,and your posts/pics have been very usefull in helping me decide on how I'm going to approach this job .I don't know if I'll be able to replicate your meticulous work but It's obvious to me  now that I'll have to be obsessive with the cleaning ::) .Regards Greg "H".

Took time out from engine for a change of scenery ....nah waiting for some o rings.
This is the long low frame, jigged it up then hacked out the swingarm pivots , machined up big tight pivots then braced them with 3mm plate, should stop any flex with the longer swingarm. ;)

Hi Tiny,
No wonder your having some respite, you have a horny sounding supercharged idle , I have a box of parts,

I'm getting nervous but still hoping it all comes together quickly at the last minute.  I got another jocky today as pete is shifting house and cant make it, hoping to meet with him this week to check he qualifies as a pygmy and he has some spare time to do general stuff like entries and camping logistics for me while I concentrate on the bike.

I know how you feel regarding running out of time Johno, the jets I ordered will only support my theory ( with help from the wideband gauge) regarding the jetting woes I'm (still) having.
Our team of 12 has dropped to two this year, so baked beans and a can opener are high on the "take" list, just under beer and potraloo.

Last August we completed several chassis mods and added a race-fairing to the Tiger Cub. We also built a completely new motor. The fairing paint was applied on Monday......the motor was started on Tuesday and blew a head-gasket.......On Wednesday at about noon the motor was started again and held through two heat cycles.............so on went the fairing and rolled the bike into the trailer. We were on the road at 6:30 AM on Thursday..........got to Bonneville to sleep in line early Saturday AM............had to deal with a tech issue on the wheelbase on Sunday...........so made our first run Monday AM.........and it was the best run of all for the new record..............

You can do it Johno................ ;D

Cheers for the words Dennis and Tiny.
If I was you Dennis I would not build yours until I have a go as I,m busy trying all your theories, two frames , one light , stock wheelbase , skinny tires , and up high CD, 520 chain etc
The black frame down low , long wheelbase , bigger rear tyre, skinny front, 530 chain etc

Getting there , got started in the shed around 8pm , still 40 deg c but better than 45  bloody sweating like a half cooked sausage.

I stuffed up , forgot to restrict the steering lock to 15 degrees each side from 40 deg , was just reading through the rule book

I just welded two bits onto existing lock plate,   my prurdy paint got some curry !

You will remember your limited lock just after your 1st attempt to turn around Johno, perhaps like Fireman Jim Higgins, fall a over  in front of an audience of 200, the bikes weigh bugger all in these situations, or at least it appears so, when one man reefs the bike upright in a split second after it lays down, unassisted.

All done with lightened crank, balanced, oil plugs screwed, ready sleeve over the end of crank to block oil hole, clearances were mains 1.2 thou and rods 1 thou,  rods lubed and torqued to .005 stretch, ready to install.  They look nice, shame to hide them ;D

ready to close the cases up !  used permatex non hardening , good enough for a plane , good enough for me.

I was concerned with the cycle x primary tensioner , after I bolted the cases together I noticed the tensioner was tight , so I backed off the adjuster but it was tensioned without the tensioner, I was worried about breaking the cases when tensioning down but they didnt break and things turn freeely, ZA GERMAN CHAINS were pretty tight before putting the top case on its just the teflon pad is right on the max tension without adjusting it .

Might end up like bear spitting out some teflon ;) ;D
Anyway glad to have the bottom end all stitched up. it was a big job, with the crank, gearbox mods and case mods.

Now the top end will do the prelims stuff next couple of nights , clearances etc and finish on the weekend with fair winds and good tides.

Its a anti rust zinc based paint, zinc primer and zinc based paint 3 coats.   Will probably get blasted off by salt but it may protect some bits ????
