I was going to suggest this to johno for the future. An engine running flat out on the salt would very likely benefit from a large airbox too. With the effect of some ram air intake who knows?

The difference seems to be in the length of the manifold spigots scottly (photo post 679). If the intake boots were clamping just behind the manifold Johno would have more filter space.

Yeh I should do something before next time just for the challenge, looking at the pics I reckon I might go the other way and make the upright tubes wider by 40mm ( 1 1/2 ")

One of the things I'm not happy about this time round was I didnt get a big oil tank, at sustained full throttle big oil tanks are like gold, big heat sink...........so the tubes wider would give me an opportunity to find room for a decent oil tank as well as carb clearance;D

my bike is not on the pre entry list as I wasnt sure I would make it and I am on my third jocky. Each change of rider costs $350. with fee plus DLRA membership, so I am doing a late entry on the day for an additional $150. to normal fees

Try to get the gas tank as low as possible...............the air-cleaner socks can be trimmed as needed when your making runs..............and you may want to make a run without the socks when you think you have the carbs sorted.

So now we wait for the first running of the motor event

Without dyno data that says otherwise, I would opt for the 31's, or even 30's, if you had them on hand.

Although most are anxious to arrive early..............competition does not start until Monday and goes to Friday AM. Hopefully the bike is together and will be tested at the lake. It only takes one decent run to be FAMOUS
