A car-guy reports the Lake Gairdner salt is damp but they are running. A streamliner ran off-course without incident. Windy conditions............

Some news is getting out and most of yesterday was wasted due to track conditions but they have been running today.
There is no cell phone or internet coverage at the lake so the only bits of news getting out is by satellite phone.
I was hoping to contact one of the teams to ask if they knew how Johno was doing but the sat phone only works one way. :(

Shock horror Joe, I just counted how many classes each capacity class is sub divided into.
93 and most are vacant.
Wouldn't it be a bugger if you made a trip to Aus to contest a vacant class just so that you could say that you were a record breaker, it cost you a small fortune and when you get there, you find that there is another contestant in the same class with a faster bike.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Of course thats what would happen...story of my life!

Sounds pretty hard core to me,but you gotta hand it to the guys and gals who do make it out there..Greg Watters makes it all the way to Bonneville from there...Suzuki 750 that goes 200+ mph...

I hope Johnno lays down a good number...

In the UK, each capacity class is divided into just two categories, Production and Race Bike.
Probably one of the reasons the sport is on its knees. :'(

Just got this from a team that have just left the salt and into cell phone range.

Afflick-Afflick & Afflick AAA 100cc Land Speed Record Pursuit Hi Sam, yes we did speak with him, I believe he did some testing along the trip and may have hurt the motor. But he was in good spirits and safe and sound.

Roll on next year.

"That's racing" they say :( :( :(  I'm looking forward to be a direct beneficiary of Johno's experience. Our motor build will be somewhat different.....and according to Ken at Cycle-X we are not following anyone's conventional wisdom. Have a safe trip, Johno. We are counting on you for a 'good' report.

The way I see it Dennis, he made it there but didn't run, I guess there will not be a lot to report.
If he ain't got a phone with internet on it, it might be a few days before we hear anything.

Hi Guys,
Good to be back home , also good to be back online with the forum, you blokes have grown to be  best mates over the last couple of years,
Its along story............No Run , Nor record. :'(

In a nutshell, it was a very difficult push to finish the bike , especially the last two weeks every morning until 1 or 2 am then up for work. But I finished the bike on the Saturday morning, started it up on rollers I spent  all day friday making, ( was only way I could  get it started....story why later) packed up Van and camper trailer after lunch Saturday, left Sunday morning.

On the way as tired as I was I thought I need to run this girl on the bituman before I take it on the salt so there was a really quiet flat stretch of road about halfway to Lake Giardner so unpacked the bike and rollers , fired the old girl up. For an old 750 It really did sound strong and sharp, the rest of the crew were all excited as it was sounding mean arsed.   I gave it a slow run up and down the road for a few miles and it felt good, changed the oils and filter etc , topped up the fuel and said to James the jockey get on and give it one easy pass then give it #$%* on the way back and watch the AF meter.

When he was coming back on the return run it still sounded horny but suddenly it went onto 3 cylinders and pump mega smoke out the exhaust and when he pulled up the breather was puking oil everywhere.

We had a mini wake with a few beers, loaded the bike back up into the van , the other crew jockey and 5 blokes turned around and went home, my son Matt and I continued onto the salt to learn what we could and spend some time with my main competitor and record holder  Steven Finn the 750 waterbottle man.

I just got back late last night, very tired and hungover, will do the post mortem on the bike Tuesday night.
IMPORTANTLY I had an absolute blast, I really did enjoy myself, the weather was perfect , less flies than

continue:

Flies less of a pain from last year,
I really cant get over the help and support from members of this forum, if I made a list of names over the last two years it would cover nearly everyone on the forum, the support came in forms , parts, advice , motivation, etc

I am planning a post mortem on tuesday night and will pass on the info for all to saviour and learn.

My only comment now is I was so Fu#ken pissed off blowing the motor that I will be there next year,  but after I exceed the record of ( still same MG750 149.7MPH) five times on the road , FULL STOP. This bad girl is going to be spanked.

Although it was not the way I hoped our getting together on the salt would be, it was good to meet ya Johno, I just returned , saw the whole event  :)
The high point for me was my mate from West Oz doing a whopping 111 mph on his super/turbocharged (1 of each)CT110 Postie bike , not bad for a 125cc sohc Honda  eh ! (Methanol+,30 lb boost, stock honda conrod !)
