Well , action replay from the start of the thread,
2nd frame, third engine, I made damn sure the cases were OK this time.
This stuff is a result of a few dud cases and as well I need to get an emergancy back up roller chassis as its looking like I wont finish the dedicated race bike, how I want, in time. the frame looks in reasonable condition and is better than the race bike frame. I ve done some work on the race frame which was not just rusty but not in spec from Honda, have a heap of pics but I'm going to do the frame show and tell thing when the frame is finished.
At this time I have one full weekend this month and a few nights, and then 3 weeks at home in January to get something together. Still hoping to throw a fun bike together.
Re a back up engine I have most of the bits, just need to order a decent cam guide , engine crank and rod bearings, I have an old head that was tidied from the good ol days, but might freshen it up with some of those reduced stem head valves from cycle x, hope the heads dont pop off at 9,000 in top gear for 9 minutes at a time , might get them to match the springs as well just for security, if any one knows what there like, good or not so good let me know. When I was a young bloke I had a head drop off a Manly stainless os valve in a Cobra style engine and it totalled the engine, kind of haunted me my whole life and I'm paranoid about springs and valves .
So if I can get the bits from the states by 1st week Jan I might get lucky, not sure what the starter would think if Pete sohc fronted up to the start line on the Z50
