It happened to be too Johnno , also for the 1st time , the Cbr250 oil scraper rings are .05mm , they go in the wrong end, and there's no chamfer.
Oh, and they are made from almostunobtanium,,,
Test ride tomorrow

I'm over it too mate, can't get into the shed without melting , tried it last night, near killed me.

Clutch swap time, maybe early am ? (clutch slip is a good sign, never slipped before)

When is this heatwave gonna back off?

Welcome to the journey Paul.
It was just too hot in the shed so I got a bit ahead of myself and brought the fuel. Sunneco Supreme leaded
it is gas class compliant but I am planning to run in fuel. The super oxy fuels make methanol look like cats piss but they take some tuning I'm told, so I am playing safe and running the supreme. pizza with the lot.
The sunnaco boys say its the best option for stinking hot weather and you cant run into detonation with any over advance. I paid aus $355.00 for two 5 gall drums so about $8.90 per litre

I also had the new tyres fitted, ended up getting clarification from the chief scrutineer about the rating, cos the record is 149.7 the class rules say I can run the V rated tyres as they are OK to 150mph, save a few bucks and got better selection of tyre.
Ended up getting a skinny back 18 x 120/ 90, one front 19x 100/90 and one front 18x 100/90
all Bridgestone battlax v rated, all balanced and rarin to go.

Very nice clearances

I'm looking at the same rubber circles for my wheels.

BTW...........I'm ordering new 62mm rings for my J&E 12.5 pistons...........not yet confirmed by them. I have a pair of HONDA ring compressors but my builder, Dave Murre, prefers his 'cones' to compress the springs.

Thanks for the link Dennis, just what the doctor ordered, I'll play it 20 times today ready for the torture in the shed tonight.

I got the JE rings from dynoman, he had plenty in stock and shipped the same day, seems they are a popular item.

Also the boys there seem to have a sense of humour, I told him I was up against the clock and would pay extra to get the CIA to escort them to my mailbox. When he sent the invoice he said he allowed for the CIA and has bought the FBI in as well , was thinking about the NSA or any other agency with initials.

I must say, they are great communicators and very efficient retailers.

Amazing what .05mm shorter clutch springs make ! (and 30 degrees in the shed @ 6am)
By the time the local auto shop opens, I buy & install some mudguard washer shims on top of the springs, to make sure, it'll be back up to 40 degrees

You sure its just the springs ? .05mm is not much , did the plates measure up to spec thickness wise, give them a good hit and roughh up with emery, and put at least a 1.5mm washer on the spring for more tension.
Are you using a clutch friendly oil this time

Had a few engine building adventures over the last week, finally doing the final assembly tonight as I just left the shed at midday at 44 deg celc , got so hot I couldnt breathe properly so come inside post some pics and sleep until 6pm then I'll get back to shed all night if need be as tomoz is hot again.

As you can see I had to grind a small lip in the piston valve recess to get the valve clearance I wanted, I had the pistons ceramic coated but wont have time to redo in ceramic so its poor mans heat proof coating, exh flame paint.
I have just painted the parts of the piston lip I ground away.. it will work OK as before all this fancy ceramic stuff come in I used the white exhaust paint on piston tops as insulator and it always done the job.

The sprockets and chains arrived, the two rear sprockets are 41 teeth and 43 teeth, alloy 520, I got two gold o ring chains and 20 joining links.....should do the job, I wasnt going to run O ring chain but I have spoken to several guys who have started with non o ring but gone back to O ring as they said the wear on each run was just unbelievable.
so O ring and lots of lube

This is the reason I run with Webers, these arrived today ....in real terms its another set of carby's
these are the 32mm venturis and jets etc

So I have 31mm venturis in to start then will change to 32mm on the dyno.....see what works best

Now for the bad news and good news

After having a nanna nap I went back to the shed about 6pm, I had left the shed doors open trying to keep the temp down ready for tonight, A big wurlie ( hot air eddy) came roarin across the block straight over the shed, I rushed into the shed to find the pistons all over the concrete floor $:-\$

I spent a few hours checking and tidying them up and they are OK to use, 1 skirt took a hit and one ring land but I have tidied them up to my satisfaction
