It will be a short video................and quite difficult to get a cameraman to stay on center ;D

It will only take 24-seconds to cover a mile when you take a ride on the MELLOW YELLOW Express 8) 8) 8)

BTW.........Johno........do you have SOHC decals?  I ordered the mouse-pad for my seat cushion ;D

:o ;D
Too easy eh !
If the rain holds off here, test ride # zillion+1 tomorrow for me
Tiny

Good luck mate, hope all goes to plan and don't forget the video.

Sam. ;)

Cool and overcast here this morning, I'll wait a while & see what happens mid morning, the new gauges are not waterproof.
The methanol will suck a gutfull of moisture out of the air (70% humidity) when the jerry can is opened too
Hopefully, I'll remember to turn the camera on this time, not just hit the button and trust technology,,,
Tiny
Edit: I have a coil that decided there would be no test ride today :(

Hi guys,
Help !
I need the good oil on these manual primary chain adjusters from cycle X,  I have emailed cycle x but must be a bit busy,

They dont come with instructions so when I installed it I took a bit of a guess.

I turned the engine forward to get chain slack at bottom

I lghtly turned the bolt in until it stopped  ( so slack out of chain ) then I backed the bolt out half turn  (1/2 turn )

I need to put the big sump on tonight so hoping one of the forum guys has installed one or has spoken to Cycke x guys about how they install ?

cheers johno

Kenny and email is like oil and water. I'd say call but it's not tomorrow here yet.  ;) Mike Rieck has a direct line to him. Where's Mike when you need him!!

I think we've had a couple of installs but I can't say who.....

Johno, they have your email and will respond. It's Monday here and he said he has a lot going on. Should give you info by the end of our day. Should be 3:37 there so it should be soon.

I was just talking to Kenny about something else while reading this and I read him Johno's note.

He said it sounds like Johno did it right. Need just a little slack in those primaries. He told his assistant to get a reply out to Johno's email.

Thanks to the forum guys who contacted Kenny cycle X re the tensioner, he said you folks alerted him to my email.

His instructions were as I posted , , put slack in chain to the bottom then screw in until firm, then back out half turn.
thanks all.

So got the carbies on, took longer than I planned (two nights)     I modified the inlet rubbers to make sure they were 32mm all through  ( up from 29mm ) to match the ports Mike.
I was going to start with the base tune of 31mm but no time for dyno now so I put in the 32mm chokes and matching jetting, the carbies were looking good, been almost 40 years and still like new. , made up a support for the carbies , had to make custom cables from CB 450 honda.

Nice Carbs :) :) :)

+1 on the 32mm intake and chokes.

Consideration..........move the #1 & #4 wires inboard of the frame-tubes.......their going to catch wind at 150mph ;)  have the WD40 ready for the cables..........and a stiff brush with a little water to remove salt from the motor after each run. Will you have air-cleaners?

I'm anxious to see your fuel tank.............and the clearance for the coils.  Ballistic Battery works for me..........remember to charge at 1.2-amp or less.  I had a spare and switched each day.

I don't know if you will have a test-run area at the lake.............we do at Bonneville.  I make several short runs to get the jets close (read the plug) before an actual run.  Use the GREAT WHITE DYNO. 8) 8) 8)

My thought too. Or a screen of some sort to keep salt off the back of the carbs......it sounds like it gets into everything.

Hey Johno, I wouldn't put the battery in the starter cavity; the heat will cause a premature death. :o

Dennis I have. A question about the salt, i can see brushing it off.. But as soon as you wet it.. Would it not spread out even thinner and run into spots you can't get to and be unable. To brush it off once it turns into brine?

Yeah, that's a BIG problem. after the 2006, when stripping the bike, the rear sprocket, which was a real snug fit before the run, was very difficult to remove, the brine had gotten in between the sprocket & the alloy hub, dried & began it's corrosive action within 3 days.

I think there is more concern about the actual flakes of salt blocking air flow, getting into chains, etc. Washing off would leave somewhat of a film but nothing compared to the caking it does. The water will get into places a brush might not. Afterwards it's a teardown for total removal. Another option was the massive rain storm that hit. Once off the salt we looked for water on the road for further salt removal.
