Mick, I am on my last warning this year on the salt, last years trip to the salt cost me a holiday for her to Europe ,  still all being said she is the only person that would put up with me and my original cb 750  ::) ;D ;D ;D

So oil pump selected from 3 pumps for the best plus a rebuild kit from our forum buddy Elan ,  oil done ready to go.

Plan to retire to a small seaside coastal town called Victor Harbor,  lots of old folks there. Its called gods waiting room.
Minimum  temp 10 deg max high 30's,    great place to grow agapanthas and polish cb 750 honda's  ;D ;D ;D
I bet you would blend right in with the Schoolies antics too Johnno

Re VH , Dont worry Tiny I have a plan, most times its the old blokes who go first, the ratio of women to men in Victor is more than double women to men .....get the drift  ;D        might be some rich cougars ready to invest in fast men on fast bikes ???

Nice day today sp put on the pistoles, barrels and head.   starting to look like an engine again.

With the wrist pins I machine  shorter some 56mm venolia pins back to nearly 53mm as per the JE piston instructions for pin length. When I tried the assembly they were way to long and I had to machine another .035 thou off to get some end float. I ended up with approx .015 end float......seems OK  , I compared to a stocky piston pin and clips and it is about the same.

so now I'll let engine  sit overnight , then I will retension the head tomoz.  I ended up trying a MLS gasket , give it a go and see what happens. ;D

good view of the engine, you can see those big poxy ports, the area machined under inlet to peg the epoxy etc 8) 8) 8)

a man 's starting to get salt fever again, time for a Brandy to calm me down ;D

Tiny, first time for months I havnt got high from the heat and petrol fumes , had to put a jumper on today. 8)

cool weather gets me going though.   Yeh they had a decent rain with about 50mm to 100mm reports.
The lake gurus though are saying it wont even flow into ....onto the lake.   The surface of the salt lake is weird this year with it looking all pebbly like, the other twice I have been there it was dead smooth with big rings :o

A topped dressed lake is a good lake, so long as it's dry(ish), Colin Clare was out on the lake last year for the initial drag, recons the rings were the result of sticks being washed over the lake last BIG drink it got (silt too),,the salt grows around anything that's not salt, and eventually consumes it.
There's a local rumor that there is a drill rig out there somewhere,,,,,

Johno............since your pistons don't top above the head-gasket, the MLS should be fine. What are you running for carbs this year?

These little suckers Dennis.   32mm flatslides...........economy version with no pumps ( dont need) and 4 to 1 cable  ( saved a few big ones !      bit of mucking around to fit them to the 750 port centres but doable. ::)

got a text today from my arch rival Finny  ah la captain suzuki waterbottle and current record holder MG 750 at 149 .7 mph.


Bugger is taunting me >:(   he said he was glad we will be in the same class this year so he can spank me  grrrrrrr  :o

will make try harder thats for sure  ;D

I use ONE of those carbs on my TRIUMPH T20 ;)

Also have a set of 33s but would be a big challenge to mount on my short intake runners............considered mounting 1 & 4 on longer runners but would need a creative 'rack'.

nearly all Done, its a 125 / 75, couldnt remember the tappet clearance so set them to .004 and set the cam at 1.5 degrees advanced.

just in case there are some new guys reading on the forum best place to adjust cam chain is on cyl 1 &4 position the advance spring post in this position , its about 15 degrees past TDC , its the sweet spot where all the slack in the cam chain goes to the back ;)

I use the degree wheel to show the same spot on the other end of the crank :D

Now the little jobs.
I needed to make up a better breather and catch can and I wanted to leave the starter cover on to stop salt filling up that area so I took the guts out of an old starter and went to cut a piece of alloy tube in its place ....sounds simple but it nearly took me out tonight....been of the tools too long man, I was parting it off to the right length in the lathe, had the speed way to high but didnt bother to change it and nearly finished the parting cut and BAM straight past my left ear man , no joke ...I though #$%* that was close, now I gotta buy another pice of tube tomoz ....bugger , that was close man.........but like a good pilot always says, every landing you walk from is a good landing :o ;D

That rusty advancer is seized Billy, I use it for turning the motor over when dialling in the cam etc but it gets replaced with the power arc thingy !

Speed week is last week of March this year, a month later than last year,     I like that, more time, cooler weather  ;D

Close enough for gov't work. Specs call for .005. What other cams out there have .400 lift or more? RC cams changed a little. Ill post early and late specs later. Even 327 didn't have .400 lift....I can hear Mikey chuckling in Boston....my favorite cam Billy boy!  ;D Bill
