No specific results................one car crash on Tuesday with ambulance time :(

Got there late sunday arvo, road wasnt too bad , its about 3 hours of red dust and dodging gibbers.
used a high top merc van , has lots of room , had all the race stuff in the van and all the camping equipment in the trailer.

caught up with Tiny at the lake, he was feeling optimistic this early day,   unfortunately he showed me his plug a couple of days later and it had been savaged by something , suspect valve ?

Den and Jerry, 3 runs down the salt !  how clean is the engine, hardest driest salt for 25 years the oldies are saying,, the bike left clean as.

Well,
got there,
Negatives .... had to contend with rising tide, bad crashes, strong winds and struggling organisation,
Good things .....hardest salt for many years, perfect cool mornings with tail winds. Bike is running hard and well
Result...........Rider qualifed for licence  with a safety run,  then 125 mph licence run passed, then wait 3 days for record run attempt,
                    Bike lost power half way through run, No record , sorry folks     run out of time to have another go.

So, always next year

Had an unusual thing happen this year, the centre of the lake was rock hard and dry, then the edge of the lake went soft when traffic drove onto or off the lake ,
Was a real barstard because  when waiting for a run for 3 days, every day  we had to push the bike about a mile to the start line, carry the riders kit bag, esky, the race starter official  put our rollers and batteries  in his trunk for us but had no room for anythings else.
bloody hard work this racing.

It was frustrating because every morning , up at 6am to start line , join the que and the weather conditions were perfect, cold , tail breeze.  couldnt run due to crashs and organisational problems.

Re speeds  :o

Had to do two qualifying runs , first safety pass was 100mph, then had to do 125 mph rider licience pass. 

For the 125 mph pass it had to be plus or minus 10mph or it had to be repeated, but we planned it with a GPS on and 16 front 43 back at 8, 300 RPM perfect,    I asked Jamie after passing the first timed mile to accelerate as fast as possible but slow before the end of the mile so we dont get busted. I was looking for feed back on what it would do.
Result was it accelerated hard and fast straight to 140mph then he backed of, he said Johno I think we got this in the bag.
we were so confident we put a taller front sprocket so 17 / 43 set up , just in case we it went well enough for the world record at approx 168 mph Then the long wait for 3 days.
On the run Jamie hit the first times section at 9,000 in 4th , hit top,  then the motor started  dropping back in RPM and about halfway through the mile it suddenly lost power, he said it felt like it only had half throttle , no mechanical noise, no smoke just no power  :'(

And no time to fix or make changes.,  got home today and it looks like it may have been the rear brake seized on :'(      bummer.

still have to do some more engine checks first . ;D

I must make a point, the bike was the loudest engine on the lake, every time we went to the start line a crowd gathered , was flattering.

Way to go. Sounds like y'all had fun. Yeh, racing is work sometimes, but when it comes together! Hope it was brake and not internal engine. Thanks, we enjoyed the show!  Bill

How much does the bike weigh?..................with rider & gear?

Next year is only 357 days away.............but I seem to remember a deal you made with your wife ;)

Excellent news in itself Johno. As you say there is always next year and you are better prepared.

Are you still making power at or above 9000?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Just guessing..................but from re-reading your post about the final run...........you may have been too rich.  What jet size?  How much advance?  Did the Power-Arch work as it should?

Johno, how much fuel is left in the tank? IIRC, it was empty after the dyno runs...

This was my plan B, We went to the salt with std matched front springs, 30 w fork oil, stiffer rear springs , std swing arm with new bronze bushes and sleeve tube.if we experienced any handling problems.
I wanted to stay with standard wheel base as long as possible as in my opinion you chase your tail once you go longer, less weight on rear wheel so put on lead etc etc.   So went blueprinted stock but had the plab B longer arm and lead, stffener tubes front forks and stiffer springs for the rear.
However it was solid as a rock, ran straight and safe, no weaving, no shaking etc it just went straight so didnt bother with plan B ;D
