DNF x 3 , Blow off valve had a hissy fit, run #1 was rider error (Lanyard IS connected to arm, I DID offer to lower the rider's visor, lol)
Some teflon from the supercharger vanes went for a walk, no engine damage found yet,,,,,,,
Oh well, seeing as it's been only 4 1/2 years since the build beginning, and it takes 5 years to smile,,,,

I got prematurely excited when a yellow bike was being setup next to out tent (they all look the same ?), I stirred up the wrong bloke (it was Harky) thinking Johno had pulled a miracle out of his ass & finished ONE of his 3 bikes,,,,,,

Yeh Tiny,
Harky phoned me this week and said you mistook him for me and were winding him up about twin cam #$%*e

Finny phoned as well to give me the good oil.
It went something like this , the weather was perfect, cool mornings tail breeze and finny got 14 runs as the organisation ran like clockwork, he even took the thursday arvo off to have a few beers as he went through 40 litres of race gas and he had to save the last run for an early morning slot on last Friday. The whole show was different to the last couple of years. The salt was so dry Harky only had to clean the salt off the tires when he got home., in bikes a few ozzie records set and a couple of world records in 125 and 500cc classes

Unfortunately for me and finny MG 750 class record 149.7 mph took a fair hike........Finny ran 153mph a few times and had gearing issues ( still runs a std 5th gear overdrive, no good) first time no blowups for him. record was blasted by Bob Prior on a late model suzuki 750 all bombed up at 163mph I believe.

My plan B class, AG750 which was held by an old honda cb 750 chopper at 101mph was blitzed by a guy on a rare immaculate museum Kenny Roberts replica TZ 750 taking it easy to run it in at 130mph. Hoping he doesnt come back next year as thats the class I have to run to be in the hunt

???vintage is nearly over and all I dream about is getting back into the shed on Mellow Yellowsss. Thinking of retiring at work about a month before next speedweek. Gunna get my priorities in order.

Looks as if the 'bottle' was cooking quite nicely

........You and fellow participants should petition for a CLASSIC category.......say bikes from 1956 through 1980. That would keep the interest up in the older models.

If I had more money to burn...........I'd put a 6-speed in my CBR. I've often considered borrowing one from a CL360 $:-\$

A 1970 Honda 500.......must be a 450.......went 120 for a record

Johno..........I accomplished quite a bit.........for the month of January when I had no 'work'

........Now I am bored with some work I took on............

On another note, I was pleased to see me old mate Phil was still rooting around with that monster shovel.
I noticed Timbo Dunn in the background.
He's been building my SOHC race motors for years and he's a top bloke.

Tim is a funny man, the more he drinks, the more he leans backward, 'till the beer overcomes his ability to remain upright,,,,
Phil stripped the HD right down after 2015,,nothing below the heads was worn out, so he put is back together , not too many 4 5/8 stroked engines could survive a constant 7,000 rpm abuse (10 years worth)

Its been a while, about 3 years, well I have managed to get over the embarrassment of my total failure and with this covid thing have found myself tinkering in the shed again. Importantly I have been enjoying working on the bike again.

At the risk of sounding like a dickhead I haven't posted a pic for so long I have to learn again, especially since photo bucket was what I used. Whats the go now ? let me know as I have a few pics to show what Ive been up to.

So I retired, sold house and shifted to a quiet seaside town where old people go to die, new shed workshop, sold lots of life long toys for peanuts in a garage sale from hell but kept the Hondas just in case I got the urge.

So got my shed organised enough to start on Mellow Yellow again.

First up had to think about the current record and racing situation, my chosen class of "modified production 750 Gas" is not within my grasp, when I started about 5 years ago there was no record then it went to 149mph which just teased me but now the modern bikes have taken it to 163mph. Also the new speed record means I have to use tyres rated up top 200mph and my old battle-axe are only 150mph rate, that would mean new wheels and tyres etc change new swingarm I just finished, also as of this year they have banned leaded racing fuel which I have set my comp ratios to use etc, so the class is not for me.
Time to change my goals, firstly just want to run 150mph on petrol, unfaired and on the loose surface. That would indicate to me that I ( we) built an engine as good or better than the factory CR,s back in the day and that would be a nice way for me to hang the helmet up.

They changed the rules last year to fall inline with the USA land speed rules and now have a classic class that I could run the bike in current spec other than the
fuel. So that's the what Im aiming to do. Not so worried about the records just the speed 150mph.
The fist thing is I finished the swingers, had to weld a few xtra brackets etc, adapted a cb125 R rear Nissan caliber onto a F rear wheel by reducing diameter and thickness of the disc, modified the calliper carrier and a few spacers etc
