bike is older than me :)
« on: July 06, 2012, 09:37:49 AM »
Just saying hi.  I hope to be posting and reading a lot in the next month as I seek wisdom and confidence for my big ride.   Have owned my '75 550Four for 14 years, and barely put any miles on it.  I've decided its time for the big adventure, so in August I will set out to complete a trip around the USA!

I still need to add pics and some profile information, but lookin forward to getting to know the community.

Cheers,

Thom

Now, THAT's what we call 'vintage riding'!  :D
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Kegger,

I am looking forward to hearing about your planned ride route and what type of preparation you are making for your epic journey.  This forum is a great resource.  Welcome aboard!

Thanks kpier.  Where is the best place to start a thread about my route.  Looking for advice, what roads to take or avoid, and fellow riders who what to do some miles.  maybe I'll also do a thread on bike prep and trip gear, where should I put that one?

Gurp- I know that on my home stretch I'll be hitting Columbus, but not sure if I'll be coming from north by way of Chicago or south up from KY.  I should be through there in the first week in Sept.   look for the route post in the next couple weeks.

While I'm on the topic of the SEARCH not working for me, I have a question about my drive chain.  Looking at descriptions of the nine areas within the Tech Forums I cant see where the appropriate area is to post my question, and all the descriptions seem specialized for a certain type of discussion.  Am I just looking in the wrong place?  Where is the "post your own tech question" area?

Thanks for the help.

that just shoots it out to the web, I'm trying to search this forum for specific topics.  Is it my browser, is it me, does it work?

The Google custom search has a few advertising links, but the rest of the results are from the forum.
