Front Brake speed Bleeder
« on: July 09, 2012, 05:14:45 PM »
I just installed a speed bleeder on my bike. I bled the brakes no problem. The problem is after I tighten the bleeder screw back up and pull my lever, a little bit of fluid comes out the top. Anyone know whats wrong? Please help.

I just installed a speed bleeder on my bike that I rebuilt. It works fine with no issues. It could be that you recieved a defective one. I would pull it out, check it, reinstall and check again. If it still leaks, order another one.

I thought about that to but this is the 2nd one. The first one worked good for a while but then it started leaking. Are you useing the stainless steel one or the other one?

Maybe it isn't the speed bleeders fault.  You've now tried two?  Have you checked the seat area to make sure it is smooth and not pitted or cracked?

Thanks for the info. Next question, how do you clean that area under the bleeder screw?

I use an assortment of brass barrel brushes in different calibers to clean the inside of small openings.   I keep a large assortment for my other pass time.

I had the same problem but on a GL. I contacted the company, and they told me the speed bleeder was the wrong length for that caliper and would leak no matter what. I then went back to the OEM bleeder.

I put 4 on my FJR (3 brakes and 1 clutch) and 1 on my CB750. All work wonderfully. There were various lengths but that only had to do with getting the business end away from the caliper far enough to use it, nothing to do with whether it leaked or not. It seemed that long ones can be used in a short application, it would just stick out further.

Seemed when I was shopping that no one had a copyright on the name speedbleeder, seemed to be many manufacturers. So maybe there are some quality issues?
