Fork spacer or handlebars?? Hmm.
« on: June 20, 2006, 04:01:48 PM »
Hopefully I'll get some fun answers for both questions.  The bike is a 1976 CB750k, and the questions are as follows...

1.)  I'm going to try adding some PVC or aluminum spacers to my forks to try to stiffen it to the point I like it.  I realize that I alone can determine the correct height for the spacer, but I am not sure of the diameter.  Anyone have any ideas?

2.)  I'm trying to find a set of risers that are practically flat, but not quite.  I am looking for super minimal sweep, pullback, and rise, and am wondering if anyone who has a really low set would post a picture and a source.

thanks again!

Just buy a stack of washers the right size.  To determine the right size, take the fork cap off your fork and measure.

Have you tried a higher viscosity fork oil?

Drag bars from Parts Unlimited- about $19. No rise and just a hint of pull-back.

heres a link to some bars, tells you about width, height and pullback, the prices seem reasonable to.

I made a mistake- The bars I was talking about are from Tucker Rocky, Similar to Parts Unlimited but smaller. PU has Flanders bars which are WAY more expensive.

Sorry

Hey there Uncle Ernie,  I picked up some good info on this one. My local Kawasaki/Suzuki dealer sells the Tucker Rocky products so, I'm going to go and check them out soon!!

                                                                           Thanks,    Bill

i've used PVC as spacers. it works well, and cheap. cant remember what size. it should be about the same outside diameter as the springs are.

you can only go so far on the spacer length. if you go too far the coils will start to bind before the forks fully compress. this would be more of a concern with original springs which may be sagging a lot already. use the spacers, but just a heads up.

the heavier oil is a good suggestion to go with the spacers. it will really make a difference.
