I had an 88 and it was a great bike, fun in the corners and had a great sound.  Nice bike!

runs great except for hardened boots causing fuel leaking down the outside of the cylinders, just got my new carb and intake boots today. This is going to be a fun winter project,as my cb750 is basically done and needs nothing.I plan on reinforcing the rear tail section with resin and fibreglass, its been repaired before and isnt very stable. Its also real hard to come by.Do my fork seals, look for a new rear shock(original one is toast.)

It doesn't take much to put an edge on the performance. Do you belong to HawkGT.com? Lots of great info there.  There is a post on modifying the stock muffler. Drill out the rivets, remove the baffle, drill it out as prescribed, reinsert and re-rivet in place. Result slightly louder, but more character and power.
I did the muffler and the folowing.
Add a carb kit:

I put a  Wiseco 663cc piston kit in. result is a nice uptick in power to go along with the chassis.

Do you know Hordpower.com?

Nice find!  My very first bike was an '89 650GT I got back in 1994.  It was way too much bike for me as a newb, but I somehow managed not to hurt myself on it.  It really makes me feel old that these are almost "vintage" bikes now. :'(

Bart my Hawk GT carbs were a breeze to get off, just loosen the screws on the intakes and lift staright up.  Once they are loose you can disconnect the choke valves, fuel line and throttle cable.  Be very careful with the choke valves, the valves like to come off the end of the cable and with an open intake right there below the carbs it's really easy to drop one into one of the heads.

I sent the carbs and cylinders and heads to HordPower for the carbKits and the bore job and valve job.  But i disassembled and reassembled it myself. Don't remember anything being a hassle. Always gotta hold your tongue the right way.   ;)

What's a Hawk? :) Never heard of them.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

HawkGT: GT650: NT650: 1988 to 1991. 650cc VTwin (ascot/shadow derivative). Kind of a puny motor, 3 valve, SOHC with a kick ass twinspar aluminum frame and ELF single sided swingarm.

Morphed into a shaft drive sport tourer in Europe. Has now morphed into the NT700V.

Hugely loyal cult of owners, really radical level of modifications from sweet stockers to full out 700cc 90hp racers, with other front ends grafted on easily, mulitple levels of engine modifications.

Les,

I think we saw them in Ireland as a "Bros" or a "Deauville". In Dublin, the Bros was a mainstay of couriers during the 90's (and beyond possibly). If they can tolerate courier work, they can tolerate anything !!

I thought it is a 'Revere' in the U.K.,a bigger rear section and shaft drive, but otherwise the same

also,I think the Bros was offered in 400cc in Japan, possibly elsewhere. And my hawk is not a piece of Sh*t.If you ever rode one you'd get it.I love the torque of a v twin, but I love the pull of my four as well.
