Hi all, My name is Alex and I'm from Boston Massachusetts. I just purchased a CB400F found under a bunch of junk in a local motorcycle shop for $900. It doesn't run, but seems in rather sound condition, should be a fun project. A picture of the bike is attached below. My original intention was to turn it into a cafe racer immediately, but after seeing how nice the bike is in stock form I may decide to gradually transform it instead.

The bike has a broken petcock, dented tank, stuck fuel cap, seized brakes, and a missing point plate, point cover, and headlight. So far I have replace the point plate and point cover, and am now disassembling the carbs. I have some riding experience, but no mechanical experience with motorcycles, I have only worked on cars. It should be a steep learning curve, but  I figure it's rewarding to learn on an ongoing project. That being said, I have heard there is a very extensive carb disassembly tutorial online which would be extremely useful. Would anybody know what tutorial this is or where to find it? I look forward to updating with progress.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, I'm Alex also. Where you living in the Boston area? Hopefully we'll see some pics of the bike soon, but keep us all updated. Don't rush on the bike either; let it speak to you.

Elan, is the bike together yet?

Need a better, newer points cover gasket? How about rubber washers for the headlight bucket? Click the link below:

I think I just forgot to put the attachement in in  ::). Let's see if it works this time.

Crush, I'm currently in Wellesley, but I will be moving to Allston in September. You?

Over in Roslindale. Recent transplant from South Coast of MA. Bike looks to be pretty workable too, so good luck with that!
