Lost a shock at speed. lol ooops to any cars behind me.
« on: August 26, 2012, 11:41:16 AM »
So I was cruising down the highway and as I went to take an exit at about 65mph, I heard something let go and then saw my spring bounce down the road. I guess next time I will loctite the shock threads?

It must have bottomed out to knock the collars off.  Very rare.

Well that's just scary as hell! :o :o
Looks like the shock broke.
Notice how he cut off the seat in the top of the photo so we can't see the giant brown stain! ;)

I was watching one of those shows where they show car accidents and stuff.  I saw a guy lose a shock and it sent him into a tank slapper and a nasty spill.  Glad you're safe...

Yeah I don't know. It looks like it just unthreaded. The threaded end is still there and in tact. Tomorrow on my way home I'm going to pickup what I can find. I saw where the spring landed. The rest may be gone. It actually rode ok with just the one shock. (Dont get any ideas.) A bit soft, but not terrible. They were original showa shocks with powdercoated springs. They really rode fantastic as far as it goes. I'll be sad if I cant re-assemble them.
