Fading Garnet Brown (76 550K)
« on: July 10, 2012, 11:53:35 AM »
I have a factory Brown 76 CB55K.  Every one I've ever seen has faded to green on the top of the tank.  I've been asked so many times if it is a factory two tone paint that I'm almost starting to wonder myself.

It isn't is it? :P

It was Candy Red, applied over Valley Green Metallic. Mine faded in just 2 years.

I was at a vintage bike meet and a guy complimented my green bike. I knew it was past time for the repaint.

I actually really like the faded colors, ...I still think about that first faded blue 550f I saw

I too have a 550K (76) which had been kept in a garage since 1977 and the tank top shows a green color.  The bike was originally a brown color, judging from the color of the side covers which weren't faded.
I don't want it to go like a motorcycle, I want it to go like a rocket!

It must not take much sun to fade them.  When I found mine last August it only had 9000 miles and had been garaged all those years.
