Wiring question
« on: February 26, 2013, 02:35:37 PM »
I have a 1972 CB750, put engine back in frame, wired it per diagrams. The only wire that I can't figure out where it goes is the (light green/red) sheathed wire coming out behind the shifter cover near front drive sprocket. I believe it's the neutral switch ground wire, as the the connection ends in a loop, but in all of the pictures I took of teardown, I cannot find where it goes. I grounded it to the frame but now my neutral light is constantly on and was not on when in gear before. I've searched the forums most of the day with no luck. Everything else works as it should on the bike...

The connection is into the thicker harness that plugs into the bike harness. The connection is right with and near the alternator/stator yellow leads that come out of the side cover. If that is the end we are talking about

By a loop do you mean a ring connector? If that's the end you're talking about it goes to the neutral switch under the left side of the motor. You'll see it in the picture, on the right side of the pic, it looks like a black plug thing with a screw in the middle of it. It's a #$%* to get the screw back in if the bikes on it's stand. It may be easier if you can lay the bike down on it's right side. The wire itself goes down past the sprocket to under the bike, inside the frame rail if I remember correctly. Cliff
