pod filters... what do i do with the breather tube?
« on: May 11, 2005, 09:17:15 AM »
ok all, here goes, picked up a set of old school pods the other day, you know the type, they go over two carbs, and are domed, with foam inside, UNI filter still make the dom elements, so have cut them down to suit my filter holders, now my question is, what do i do with the crank case breather, it used to run to the top of the airbox, and now that i dont have an air box, what to do... the 77 has a seperator, element type thing under the batterie, can i just put a little breather filter on the end of the tube, and be done with it?... any help would be appreciated... peace

Just run it with all the other tubes down the back of the engine and let it vent to the air.

Who needs all this 1970's environmental plumbing anyway??

I use a K&N vent filte at the end of the tube and zip tie it to the bolt hole that used to hold the OEM breather cannister. Uni makes them too.

I'm using Velocity Stacks and I bought a pair of these filters from eBay for low money.  They're not K&N's but they are washable.  3/8" inlet.  Worked out fine for me.

Yep, most cool dudes fit those lil filters meant for the oil filter to airbox line on Harleys when you swap out the dinosaur's airbox for an after market one. Have also seen them used to plug the top of the v=crankcase vent thats on top of the gearbox on Kwack Zed's. But most folks used to just let Hondas vent to the air.

Cben a Snr Member Mcpuffett has one of those breathers mounted on his bike on the right near the end of the kick start lever looks pretty cool.

hello ben ,see you got one of those nice little breather filters 8) on the left hand side of your bike there is an engine mount i used the top bolt to mount mine on had no issues riding in the rain or washing bike for that matter as it is lower than top of engine  ;) i do get a bit of a mist on my side panel, condensation with a bit of oil mixed in  :) other than that it is cool 8) mick.
