Topic: 1974 CB550K Air Cleaner/Box Parts

Hi everyone,

Hope you are enjoying the summer.  I recently bought a 1974 CB550k and just realized that there are pieces of the air box assembly missing.  I have a UNI 4055 replacement filter to go in but the pieces missing are pictured below.  I'm actually just missing the two on the left and the foam filter that goes between the metal pieces.

So, I was wondering if anyone here has any of these pieces they don't mind getting rid of for a reasonable price? Or can you get them from Honda still?

Also, does anyone know where to get the type of foam material used between the elements below the air filter?

Many of these parts were purchased via ebay - check out the "box-o-parts" auctions. So far I've been pretty successful at getting good quality parts for a fraction of the price, since it's a "winner take all" situation. Def check them out.



That foam is a medium-density open-cell foam about 3 X 4 X 1/4 inches in size. It's similar to the stuff used on lawn mower air filters, and is used the same way: dipped in ATF and wrung out to use on the bike.

Thanks a ton for the info.  It's great to see it all taken apart like that.  I'm missing the top cover of the air filter as well I guess.  I spoke with the PO and he found the middle piece of the photo I posted so I'll go from there!
