Wheels AD ... ???
« on: July 11, 2012, 08:38:02 AM »
I'd love to have a set of Henry Abes for my 750 OR the 550... but it looks like only two rear rims here ???...
I'm trying to make sense of this ad.
Any info on these wheels would be appreciated.

Better buy those Henry Abe's...The top pic is of the 18" rear w/drum...can work on 550's or 750's...Maybe he's just showing two pics of each type of wheel?  Go check it out, can't hurt!  If a set of HA's is really $150, that's a STEAL!

Yeah the top one is an Abe wheel.  The second one, I don't know what it is.  I have a 16" wheel and a 19 front wheel.  750 rear wheels have 3 bearings and 550 wheels have only 2.  I like tha way they look.

Hmmm... looking around, it seems it'd be awfully difficult to find a matching H.A. front.  ???

They will work if you use the corresponding sprocket drives.

True but I'm not in the parts resale business... otherwise I'd be trying to sell some of the other parts I have now. :)
I am however considering still.. because I might like a set on my bike :)
Ahhh what the hell.... I'll buy 'em.

older suzuki front wheel may make a suitable match, somewhat similar.

I think the lower wheel is a HALLCRAFT.

That is close... but then how about the actual matching Suzuki rear rim for that?
Would that work on a 750 I wonder?
If so... than other than the H.A. name / collectability factor would the Suzuki's be just as good?

I've seen some of the SUZY wheels on some choppers(CB750).  You would just have to set up the spacing..

It sure does look like a Hallcraft wheel.

Hallcraft called those solid chrome wheels the “satellite” model. The chrome angled blades would reflect back so much sunlight going down the road that it made your eyes hurt. 8)

The other competitive brand was “Invader” who made solid chrome wheels:

yes, i;m sure the suzuki wheel would be just as good quailty, they are actually enkei rims. As far as a matching rear, it would be pretty easy to find and you would have options as far as size too. they came in 16 17 and 18 inch rears. most of the 18's were 2.15 wide. i'm actually running a 19 front 16 rear combo on my old ironhead, the 16 rear was either 3 inches wide, allowing me to run a 150 on the rear.

The Suzuki wheel would be disc brake, too bad you are not close, I have one to sell.
Invader mags used round and square spokes.

not all the rears are disc brake, you can find them for drum applications, the earlier gs450 and maybe some of the 550's had crum brakes if you wanted to go that route
