So I am putting all the pics I took today in the first post now.  After the input I got yesterday I got a bunch of them.  It was speculated that the bike might not be a K0, but it looks like it is a K1 from engine number (79,914).  The "VIN" that was listed on the ORIGINAL 1971 title also says the VIN is 18132.  Thinking that maybe back then they truncated the first part I go to look at the mfg plate and it's not there.  There is instead some kind of government vin number on it (I'm assuming).  You can see the faint remains of some kind of DMV(?) logo.  It looks like right underneath it maybe the VIN stamped into the frame is under there?  I have never come across this before.

In one of the pictures it looked like the caliper was bare metal but it is in fact painted.  Well here are the pics.

I wouldn't believe the odometer either as my bike has 42,000 on the clock but the bike in way to clean and runs to good for me to believe it.I think my bike may have tucked away for a long time and someone broke the original spedo and replaced it with the one thats on it now

He wanted $1000 for it and I told him I would give him $650.  If it weren't a '71 and low mileage it would be half that.

Nothing like a good insult to get your price.  ???

Yeah it is not as bad as I originally thought, guy I got it from got it from the original owner.  He had a guy repaint it and it's not the best job so I originally wasn't too excited about it.

Haris - I bought a K5 last year and the PO did a fair rattle can paint job on it. He admitted it was his first try at painting and didn't turn out as well as he hoped.
It had a lot of orange peel but after block sanding, a shooting of clear and a good buffing, it truly looks like a pro job now.  Hard to tell if yours is a candidate for this, but you might consider it.

PS. Your K1 looks better than mine!

Was going to just mention that also as it looks to be plastic and not glass. Is there silicone or something around the edges ? Maybe a better pic of it to tell if its even a 750 meter or maybe another model. Looks a little smaller ? Should also have painted fork ears and not chrome so a little changing going on up there. Good platform though.

For the $$$ its still a good deal 8)

Later shocks, mixed front end that may have a clock worth more than you paid, could be a very pricey (or not) header, and its very clean.......

Yes the guy I got it from put some silicone around the speedo lens as it had come loose and he tried to prevent water from getting in there.  I did notice the chrome fork ears.  I will take some more pics and get some numbers, it's at the shop right now so I'll do it tomorrow.

Thanks a bunch guys, I will be totally honest, I have never had a 750 earlier than a 72' so I am in some uncharted territory here.  If you guys are sure that is a k0 speedo that's news to me.  I did notice it had the 71 red gem emblems.  The tree has definitely been taken apart, I think the rhino upper tree has been replaced cause it's not painted, bare metal.

I got the new title today, it said the VIN was "18132" I believe I looked at the engine before but that's not on the title.

Fingers crossed you have a sandcast engine in there  ;) Never know where they will pop up. I bought some take offs from a Guys 72 once and ended up with a good wrinkle tank and a minty set of HM300 pipes that he was going to cut the mufflers off of  ::) along with other good bits.

I did open up the tank to check for wrinkles when I bought it, no luck!  :)

Interesting though if the frame is #18132 as that should be K0.  K1 started around 44650 I believe. Hmm
