82 CB650SC, VB 54 carburetors questions
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:12:45 AM »

Hello
I have a small problem with the carburetor on my bike. I installed a new float valves, and all carburetors have a different fuel level marked on the image. The question is which one is correct?

The second question is, what should be pilot screw settings in this carb type?

Do you have a shop manual?  The procedure for checking float levels and setting pilot screws will be in there.

I have, but unfortunately to the PD carb version, and i can't find my CV version.
I know that the floats level should be 15.5 +-1mm,  and float valve should be closed in this position. I wanna make sure only.  Maybe someone can check what fuel level he have, and which level on photo is correct.
I have pilot screw setting to VB 44, VB 45,  but i don't have nothing about my version VB54.

Ok, so you know that the float level should be 15.5 +-1mm, and that would be the measurement from the "deck" of the carb body to the "top" of the float with the float valve just closing.  This is done with the carb rack off the engine with the bowls removed.  The procedure should be the same for different models of carbs.  There should be photos in your manual showing this.
