Finally got my hands on a SOHC '78 750k
« on: July 16, 2012, 06:03:55 PM »
Ive been bitten by the cafe bug for a few years now and have always kept my eyes open for a CB750.  Talking with a friend at a party, he said that he had one that he got from a friend that he wasn't able to get running.  I jokingly offered him $200 for it and he responded with maybe $250.  A week later he calls me to see if Im still interested and $250 later I have myself a complete 78 750K with a Kerker 4 into 1(has stock pipes also) and a Gerex ignition.  Yeehaw!
Some carb cleaning, an accelerator pump spring and a carb sync later its running pretty good.  Needs a fair bit of refreshing, front brake doesn't grab too hard and doesn't release fully either.  Tires are probably 20 years old, and still need to set the fast idle correctly.  Overall, really excited about tinkering with it.  My other bikes are a 2009 Buell 1125R and a 64 Harley FL
On the trailer bringing it home

shot from today after taking it out to the gas station for its first ride

Welcome!  Great deal, looks just like mine except for the exhaust (mine is stock).

Start shopping for some tires, I put Dunlop D404's on mine. Have fun.
