It struck me today while reading the "Lets see your SOHC on the road" that we should have a SOHC calendar for 2013. Since its summer and you are all out riding then it shouldnt be too much of a challenge to go and take some scenic shots of you and your bike and submit the best photos to this thread for inclusion in the 2013 calendar.

Requirements for submission:

1. 12 photos in total will be selected (obviously).
2. Photos must have been taken in 2012
3. Photos should be accompanied by location of  photo, bike model/year and you should state that you agree that the photo can be used for the SOHC Calendar.
4. Nice clear photos with an interesting backdrop stand a better chance of getting in (wild scenery, shops, bridge, race track, hot biker chick etc etc...get creative!)  - a photo of your bike in the driveway wont cut it.

No idea how much each calendar will cost at this stage but I have bought other motorcycle calendars for about $20. All profits will go to the SOHC forum.

So get out and get riding and get snapping ;)
Good luck!
Andy

Your plan has a problem.
I am a graphic artist.
The photos submitted on this forum are  usually internet size meaning they are
for display on a computer screen called screen resolution or 72 DPI.
They are usually 600 to 800 pixels wide.

To make a calender the photos sent in and then selected would need to be PRINT size not SCREEN size.

I print size photos instead of 40KB would be 1.4 megabites or even higher.

Let me show you an example.
The first large photo from OFREEN is 1024 pixels X 561 pixels at 180 resolution.
On this screen it will only display 72 DPI just like all computer screens.
This is the photo below:

You have click once on the photo to see the larger image because this forum has automatically down sized it to 60KB but the original was the size above @ 1.64M!!

If that same photo was print size at 600 DPI required by most printers it would only be 5 inches wide and 3 inches high.

Continued POST #34 below.

Wow Lucky,
I wish I had your life experience. Certified welding inspector, professional welder, professional motorcycle mechanic, and graphic artist!  ::)

How do you have time for it all?

It took 63 years.
I have a BFA degree in commercial art and studio art.
I have a Masters degree in sculpture.
I went to a computer art school.
I worked as a graphic artist on corporate accounts for Kinko's.

That was after I served in the military as a Jet engine mechanic for 4 years.
Then I went to welding school and became a certified welder and 10 years later I became a welding inspector. You have to have 3 years experience as a certified welder to be able to take the test to become a welding inspector.
It is a 6 hour exam.
I have built a 36 foot steel sailboat and a 30 ft steel sail boat.
I also built a 19 foot wood sailboat.

I was a Honda dealership mechanic also.
I worked at several car garages and raced motorcycles winning 67 races on dirt tracks.
I was a jet engine mechanic for the civil service at Davis Monthan AFB.
I worked on c-130's and F-106 Delta Darts at Hamilton AFB.

If OFREEN's photo was shown full size at 600 DPI PRINT SIZE it would never fit on this screen,
It would be 3,413 pixels wide and 1,870 pixels tall. It would be 18.3 M !!!

But in the print world that is very common.
This is a detail of what it would look like.
Of course you will have to click on it because this forum program is going to downsize any file I load. IT is still just a fraction of the full size

I can't speak for other posters but I know the original of my pic is much larger and would work fine if it was chosen for a calender.  I of course have re-sized them for posting on this forum and never expected that the one posted would be the one submitted if the calender gets off the ground.   :)

Here are some pics of my 77 F2 taken on a country road near my home last friday, about 30 miles east of St. Louis.  They are all taken from the "passenger side" because i think that side looks much better with the exhaust there lol

When you post your photos on this forum they automatically get sized down.
You are right... if a artist or graphics person was given a 3,072 pixel wide image it could be resized for print and still be large enough for a calender if it was high enough resolution.

Pixels do not have a fixed size. Only the the number of pixels in a given space.
The camera manufacturers still have not come to any agreements.

This is my 1978 CB750k on top of Connors Hill in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Can't wait for the calendar...but, I would second the "Coffee Table Book" idea, too. I can provide the full size image if I'm lucky enough to be chosen.

Just wish I had some better looking side covers, rather than these cheap plain black ones...all in good time, I suppose.
