Lift

Is there a good way to get the front wheel off the ground without a lift? I have a lift (small under frame), but I just don't always feel like removing the exhaust to use it.

Don't know about a 750. My 550, standing on the center stand on concrete, is balanced so that tying a weight of about 60lb to the grab bar would lift the front wheel just enough to be able to pull the axle and wiggle the wheel out to the front.

I have also put the bike on a plank(center stand and rear wheel) and used a tie down under the plank and tru the rear wheel.  Tighten down the tie down while pressing down on the seat.  Simple and cheap.

I've done this many times. 2x4's.... Measure 2 31 inches long. then One I think 18.. 18 in the middle . screw the 31" to the side. bike on center stand. have someone sit on the back of the seat. Angle the support you made from the 2x4 with the open end facing up. This allows you to then rotate upwards without hitting fender or lines. Then lift front end up with person on back. Should work great. had my bike like this for a week with no front end.

I used a tie-down ratchet connected overhead to lift it.

If you have the under frame bike lift, then just put the bike on the center stand, and put 2x4's on the lift "arms" so that they rest against the frame rails near the front, making sure to clear the exhaust.

You can then jack the front end of the bike off the floor a couple of inches. That's what I do.

The easiest solutions sometimes don't occur to a person...perfect and easy with the setup I have.

I hold the front wheel up and prop, I think, a 7" piece of 2X2 under the front of the engine.  Holds the front wheel off the ground while on the center stand.  I keep the piece of wood in my tool kit on the road in case I have to pull the front tire.

Actually not to much of a balance issue, the bike is still held side-to-side with the center stand.  Its just a matter of getting the front wheel off the ground and inch or so.

When some one sits on the seat. Make sure you have the 2x4s flush on the ground. You will have to lift front up and slide the wood brace into place.
