Good God that is a great looking CB. Bravo. Where did you mount your back (front) fender at?

The tires are basically 1 size wider and taller than stock. I mounted them in my garage with tire levers. I still need to get them balanced.  :o

That's actually a stock rear fender. I cut all the wire channels off the bottom and made some brackets that bolt to tabs I welded onto the swing arm. I got that tail light on today. Looks awesome. Pics later.

it ALL looks fantastic! Pipes,lite....the whole shebang. Not that there is a single thing to complain about, but maybe a small tack weld on the back side of the pipes? Right at the tips to keep the pipes from rattling against each other. Little noises like that can drive you crazy sometimes.
The darn fool didn't know it couldn't be done...so he went ahead and did it anyway.

Hey Xnewmanx, I'm just about to give a try at welding a set of straight pipes to a 550. I'm wondering if you remember what diameter pipe you used? If you used a coupler or some sort of connector from the headers to the pipe? Any tip would help on the process, as it's my first time tiring to tackle an exhaust weld like this. An I just wanted to double check the stock headers of a 550 are stainless steel, yes?

He probably won't see this as he doesn't come on here anymore......but he made his own axle and made an adapter to bolt the GSXR rotor to the stock wheel.

So I'm planning on building an exhaust for my bike but I do have a few questions about CB specifics.  I have experience with this sort of thing, here's a manifold I build for my nissan skyline engine that I put in my BMW E30.  I did all the work.

Anyway.  I have a few questions...  Disclaimer: I want the bike to run well, but I'm not looking for a performer.  If form is going to cost me a little bit of function...  I'm ok with that, here.

Can I just run 4 straight 1.5" pipes?  I like the "visual volume" that the stock exhaust occupies, so I'm trying to maintain that look, but with straightpipes so I can cut down on the width a bit.  I'm not a fan of the look of a megaphone.

I read somewhere that people put a washer in the exhaust to sort of "tune" it?

Any other concerns or considerations before I start???

Here's a pic of my bike.  Still waiting for a front brake caliper.

I like the bent look you did. Not talking technically but it looks very nice. Few years ago I had a fatboy with similar pipes.

On the same note, if you want to sell your stock pipes, I'll be candidate.

Thanks
