Bought a poorly running 1972 CB500 a couple of years ago. Have rebuilt the carbs and in an attempt to fix an oil pump that was leaking like a faucet made a little mistake with an O ring which caused a Cam shaft and head problem.
After replacing the cylinder head and cover along with the cam shaft and oil pump the bike is up and running again. Those engines are heavy.
I have put on new tires(the ones on it were from the 70s), petcock, fuel hoses, rebuilt the carbs, replaced all gasket and Orings above the crankcase, replace the cylinder head, head cover and cam shaft, 4 into 1 exhaust, chain and sprockets, found and reinstalled original footpegs, and relocated the ignition back to original. The bike had floor boards, a windjammer and highway bars on it when I bought it.
Don't currently have a picture but will take a few soon and get them loaded. The only current problem with the bike is the idle gets weird after the bike is completely warm. Will go into a rather hi idle 2000rpm plus when coming to a stop. I can drag it down with the clutch and then it will stay low until the throttle is used again. Will search around some and see what I can come up with but will probably post a more specific question after I have put more miles and longer trips on her.
