Box- you def set the bar high with that video.  I am hoping just to complete the journey with a tale or two to tell.

The badlands sounds awesome, but at that point in the trip i have a feeling I'll be trying to blast across to make up time.  Plus, I got a connect in St. Louis which is helpful.  I think the north route will be a goal for next year!!

I'll be PM'ing you guys who have expressed interest in linking up.  Just note, seems like i miss-communicated or something, but the dates y'all are referencing are one day late from my plan.  I start with a full day of riding on the 15th which completes Leg1.  Leg2 is the 16th etc...   Crush - I should hit boston on the 18th, Eydugstr - I should get into Kansas on 9/7, Jcarthel - I roll into Amarillo on 25th.

I will be in touch shortly.

I'm in Colorado Springs if we can hook up. Looks like you are riding through on your way to Denver Castle Rock then back through. Do US83 one way and 105 (Sedalia to Monument) the other.

PM me when you get close to Colorado. If I'm in town you can stop over here and save the double backing.

Your route from Castle Rock east to Topeka is decent wide open 2 lane. We rode it for the Relay last year.

If you can work it in, ride the Million Dollar Highway in southwest Colorado. You'll never see any other place like that in the USA. And/or, ride over Milner Pass on Hwy 36 across Rocky Mountain Park, one of my personal favorites, in the middle north section, nearer Wyoming.

HondaMan, it is on the schedule.  A friend recommended it and I'm looking forward to something amazing!  I'm doing it north to south though, no way I will ride my bike along an un-railed, no shoulder cliff!  I'll stay on the safe side and for photo ops I'll get off and walk over to the precipice.

Kegger - I might have to work that night (9/7), but still might be able to hook up with you and ride for a few hours on that day before I go.  Really envious, looks like you've got quite a trip planned!

I live in the Buffalo area, I might ride along the first day and give you a send off, I haven't read the whole thread yet, depends when you are leaving.

Guys:

Its day 4!   Heading back from Portland to Manchester last night was insane! :o I wonder if Alex got caught in any of those storms?   Anyway,  I've been so busy just concentrating on the ride and getting places, and working out the kinks due to my lack of experience, that I haven't done too much posting to the blog.

However, the blog is at:    ThomsBigRide.com

I should have time tonight for a few new pics and some story telling on the blog.  Wow, some good times so far.

Only issue with the big that I've noticed is that the idle seemed to get a little funny yesterday.  Staying up around 2500, but blip the throttle and it drops back to 1500.  Also, I am hearing a little knocking sometimes while waiting at a light.  It has a rythm slower than the RPM, I would guess one of the valves may be getting out of adjustment, or could it be an issue with timing chain?  How would I know - what to look for or pay attention to?

Anyway, only doing like 250miles today.  :)

I'll try and be in touch with people that are lined up and interested in riding.

Got to meet Thom today and ride with him a little bit. His shifter seal is starting to leak and the Honda shop was closed today if anybody can help him out with a seal I am sure he would appreciate it. I believe he is going to DC then on to Atlanta send him a PM if you can help.

Thanks Matt
