Due to a P.O. with bobber ambitions, an unfortunate set of mini-apes., several 3-inch sections of patch wire, a couple of rolls of electrical tape and moisture I am finding myself in need of a new wiring harness for the subject bike. Saving the old harness does not seem like a viable option primarily due to reliablity concerns... getting stranded on a New England back road due to an electrical gremlin would be problematic.
Two primary questions to get in front of the forum:
1. Parts and More wiring harness, what is your take on it?
2. How different is the 1976 K wiring from the 1973 to 1975k wiring? ... the reason being is that the Parts and More part is listed as a 73 to 75 harness.
Any insight would be appreciated.

1.  I don't have any experience with the Parts an More harness, however here's the one you're looking for:http://www.vintagecb750.com/products/73/featured-products
Fourth item down on the page is for the 76.

2.  The two harnesses are different enough to require making completely different harnesses.  A lot less headache to get the correct harness rather than one that's close and have to modify it.

Nayto 550,
Did you order one from Vintage CB750?
If so, what is your thoughts on their product / your purchase?
I was not aware of that vendor.
Thanks!

I've never ordered a harness from them, but I've ordered stuff (mostly fuel system and engine bits) from them on several occasions in the past and have always had good luck with them.

And as a side-note, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if all these distributors are selling the identical harnesses from the same manufacturer.  ;)

I've ordered from vintage750 countless times.  Always fast shipping and I've even been able to return one item but was denied returning another.  I also ordered the harness from them but haven't installed it yet.  The build quality is very good and all the connections look close to OEM.  I do hope they used to correct gague wire as I'd hate to see problems like those EMGO ignition switches.

can I hijack this post?!
Does anyone know where to get a wiring harness for my '73 cb500? I've heard the harness for the 750 will work but was wondering if i would have to do modifications (something I don't really want to do).  Also, what is everybody's thoughts on the bullet connectors?  Is there a better solution for connectors?

Thanks!

This should work, if it is indeed from a 1972 CB500, as they used the same harness:

You can always solder connections, but I like the idea of being able to pull them apart if needed. Vintage Connections is a good source as is Oregon Motorcycle Parts. I put dielectric grease in my connections to keep water, dust and corrosion away after cleaning them.

I actually ordered this harness just a few weeks ago from them and it is a good purchase. Being new the cb750 as my first project I had a good experience.  The harness came in about 2 days or so and it matches all of the oem plugs and placement perfectly. The only thing I found to be different than the stock cofiguration would be:
1.) an extra (single female connector) in the headlight bucket for a brown/white cable which is usually used gauge lights and the headlight control.
2.) an extra brown female adapter in the headlight bucket (same as tail light) maybe to plug something extra into while the bike is in park.
2.) an extra brown and red wire in bucket. I don't know why there are two there though as the only oem one was for connecting the headlight dimmer switch to the fuse 7a fuse.

All in all no problems on a 74 cb750, but if anyone knows what those wires are for please shed some light.

I installed a new wiring harness from Vintage750 on my 78 cb750k and had the exact same experience as Davel...a couple extra wires, but I noticed that I had the extras on the OEM harness, too. It was a very simple install and every wire was the perfect length...plug and play.

I bought a K0 harness from vintagecb750. So far the harness looks and fits fine. The headlight bucket isn't wired yet. I'm not sure of the round brown plug for the early ignition. i had to drill the center pin on my stock plug and pull the new pins out with needle nose pliers. The jury is still out on the connection. That's only an issue with the early harness.
I bought some extra bullet connectors but the female side must be the 4mm ones. too loose. We use the 3.5mm. vintageconnections.com has them look in the price page. they are not in the kits listed.

I'll throw in a question along the same lines here. Are there much difference between the wiring harnesses for a 76 K and a 76 F? I can't find a harness specified for the F anywhere, and mine is in need of replacement.....:-(
