Performance cams and idle
« on: June 23, 2006, 04:56:18 AM »
Just wondering what effects are to be expected to the bike's ability to idle when a performance cam has been installed.  Obviously, different profiles would have more or less effect, but I would be interested in hearing other's experiences.

I also installed a Yoshimura cam without any idle issues. I have a 750 and I used a Yoshimura Daytona stage 2 cam. It has 256 degrees duration on both intake and exhaust. Intake lift 9.72mm & 105 degrees LC. Exhaust lift 8.60mm & 105 degrees L.C. I think most of your idle issues are going to be dependant on your tune up and cam setup (degreeing).

I run a "street/strip" cam with no idle problems. I think the "runs like crap at idle" thing has more to do with carbs that racers choose for best performance at WOT. Just a guess ???
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame
