I never realized the effects of altitude until I rode over Monarch Pass in CO, (11,312') when I noticed the lack of power. There is simply less oxygen in the air, and no amount of re-jetting will correct that. You may need to run it a lower gear and rev the motor more. 

That is exactly what I did on my ride (still on it) when I hit 9000+ feet my 550 was very unhappy. Just ran it in a lower gear as Scott said and rev'd the darned thing   Had no problems. Oh and I run pods too

 I live at 5000 feet asl.I take trips two up to 11,000 feets with no probs.Yes I typed feets

 Lucky,People ski at 10,000 feet and above every day...and they are healthy and proud.
 Lucky I dont ski but its nice to see these people.Can you imagine doing thirteen rounds with one of these guys at 10,000 feet.

I live at 7000' and have had mine at 14,000'+. I disagree that the slow jets are the issue. The problem is past the slow jets. If your air filter is that much of a problem you probably ned to replace the damn thing. Lower gears, higher rpms PERIOD. Don't change your jets for a few brief trips at elevation. Unnecessary overkill. If you need an oxygen mask while sitting on your bike you need to lose weight and quit smoking or go back to Lucky level.
