Carb ID and rebuild 1972 vs 1976
« on: July 27, 2012, 01:37:39 pm »
hello all,

I'm new to the CB750 world but a long time rider and have a questions about carbs.  My 1972 CB750 has a mix of '72 and '76 carbs on it and they are sticking & leaking.  I've cleaned them so, based on reading the forum, it's time to replace the float valves.  My question is can I put the '76 need & seats on the earlier carbs?  the only difference i see is the screen attached to the seats.

and is $10 at carbkitscapital dot com the best place to get them?

thanks everyone

Pretty much the 086A and 657A & B carb bodies are identical. They only really differ by jet sizes, so yes that should work.

Check out jetsrus.com or http://www.siriusconinc.com/ for parts.  (Or other places.....)

If the 1976 uses the screen version of the float needle I would use that one.

Can you please post a photo of your Santee Chopper? Thanks LUCKY
