Respect
« on: July 20, 2012, 08:33:48 am »
I am putting my 73cb750 back to stock(cept for the handlebars)out of respect that it is the motorcycle of the century 8),also after taking off the 4-1 and putting on my 341's,I am always pleasantly reminded that Honda did it right.Drivability.with the 4-1 its peaky, different, nothing wrong if thats what you want.now that I have another 750,one will be stock, the other a custom/cafe/rat/hot rod whatever ::).I just put the cb750A wheels with fresh tires on,at first I thought the rear 17"looked to small, but its starting to grow on me.I will be putting these on my other project and putting the chrome originals back on eventually.opinions on if they look 'wrong'

I'm jealous of your shiny aluminum rims because I want a set of my own...
 Does that help?  ;D

I would love those rims. I'd enjoy polishing them.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I'm interested in that seat.  Is it a custom job, or could I buy one like it?

yeah,i had a seat pan that I sent to vinyl-lux to have redone to my specs. It was a bit pricey but I think its a great seat and worth it.I have been looking for 18" shouldered wheels, but they are very spendy, these I have had for a while and finally put tires on em for fathers day(wifey:).I have the original seat in fine shape as well.

Anyone know how much lighter the aluminum hoops are (than the original steel)?

BTW - love to hear you want a "stock one".  These ole doggies look marvelous in stock trim.

put the original clocks back on,complete with dent.I can tell when I am on the highway I am up a couple hundred RPMs with 17" wheels.Thinking about doing a hard tail with this frame since it already has been cut with the frame kit,and using the 72 frame since it hasnt been altered.Using the 17"19" combo on the bobber project as it would be fitting ,I think.putting the original Chrome wheels back on the stock one.

The air gap with the 17" looks better with the entire bike in the picture.  Put a different seat and fender and that might cure the air gap by adding more??  Heh, I know you spent some coin on that seat.  I like a cafe style on these that still have a very stock look like in the pic.

Hey Bart, nice ride looks like you've put some time and luv into it. Sunburst orange is my favorite color.

Question, where did you have your rotors drilled? Or did you buy them that way?

Has anyone got a measurement of the total height of the 17" wheel and tire versus the 18" wheel and tire?  Since the GL or A wheels are wider, 2.50", they could also handle a larger tire, regaining some of the height lost to the rim diameter.  Anyone do this comparison before?

I am going to guess that a stock steel wheel from the K0 was about 5lbs heavier than an alloy wheel of the same size. Maybe more....which would make one heck of a difference everywhere.

I can't believe you guys like those aluminum wheels, I feel so bad for you I would be willing to trade you some steel rims even up. See what a nice guy I am?
Seriously, Unless it's a correct restoration I see no reason not to keep an eye peeled for some aluminum rims. I polished some car wheels once, I chucked an axle in a pipe threading machine and spun them while sanding and polishing.

Stock 2.15 x18 rear from my 75 XS650 1.85 by 19 up front.  36 spoke pattern.  MikesXS has repros in 16,18, and 19 for $80-100 and also in a 48 spoke pattern.  With all the work getting it back into shape I may just buy a new one next time but for now my time is free and money is tight.  Luckily the front is in much better shape and won't require much work or respoking.
