Clicking on the link to Raef's "custom #$%* for sale" only to find out the link is broken mildly annoys me..........

yea that's bull#$%*, the only thing I currently have is a aluminum tank and side covers for a 550....

What really pisses me off is I got too busy at work to work on the side and then my house burnt down. Now I'm really pissed off cause in the last 3 months all I have got down is work, tear my house down and argue with an insurance adjuster.  On the bright side I have a 25000 cubic foot hole where my house once was.

Ps #$%* the spelling and grammar police, I am sitting on the sixth floor balcony looking at lake Erie, fairly well #$%*ed up, typing this on my phone, we're did those damn reading glasses goooooo

Sorry to read that your house burned down mate, that's awful, I hope you get your insurance sorted out and your new house built soon. As the self appointed Spelling and Grammar Nazi I'd normally point out a couple of errors in your post, but considering your recent problems, and your state of inebriation, I think it's only fair that I forgive you. Thanks for the clean air.  Seriously....I just think it went too far and ended up killing jobs. 
I do recall many folks back in the 70's buying houses for 15-20K in western PA.  These guys were making 25K-35K easily on blue collar jobs.  Now look at the steel industry in the US.  Guess the unions are to blame??? Probably somewhat along with heavy EPA regs. 

I watch a few American "Reality" programs on cable TV and they paint a fairly dismal portrait of what's apparently happening in some of the industrial cities, (Detroit, for example) and to me it's pretty scary.

I know that it's popular to blame the union movement for the current situation, but the truth is that "Big Business" doesn't want to pay the blue collar workers a fair days pay for a fair days work, so they've moved their factories to China, where there are no unions, and people work for whatever an employer is willing to pay, which isn't very much.

This is where it becomes somewhat ironic to me. American people want their slice of the American dream, to own their own home and get paid a decent wage, but the same people scorn the union movenent, which exists purely to get a better deal for those same working class people. Demonising unions in Australia is the culture of "Big Business", not of the decent hard working blue collar workers who enjoy good working conditions and good pay, thanks to the efforts of the union movement.

And don't get me wrong, I'm a white collar worker, but I pay my union fees just like my staff, to show my support. Cheers, Terry.

Terry,  If you think the so called reality shows show Detroit in a bad light try watching the local news here.  Steady diet of violence against everything. 

Is that right mate? Geez, I was hoping that the "reality" programs (Detroit Brothers and the Golds) exaggerated the situation, are you saying it's worse than that? Is there anything nice about Detroit? (except the road out?) Cheers, Terry.

It pisses me off when I see one of our 380,000 dollar fire trucks being used as a paramedic vehicle to help handle the volume of calls.  BTW, the road out of Detroit is filled with potholes.       Gary

That's sad Gary, and I can't help but think of one of the scenes from "Grand Torino" where the camera pans around the neighborhood, Clint Eastwood's character's house is a nice neat old place with his American flag hung out the front, but some of the other houses in his street are just falling down and full of scumbags, I hope it's not as bad in your street mate?

Anyway, there's plenty of room out here, so organise a tragic insurance fire and use the proceeds to move out to Oz, there are still plenty of jobs around, and if you get homesick I'll drive past and shoot my guns at your house now and then. Cheers, Terry.

Terry I'm glad my old man isn't alive, the current bull #$%* from big business about it's the unions that are the problem causing us to send jobs to China would have him on the barricades (even if he had to build one by hand) yelling "Workers of the world unite, cast off your masters, you have nothing to lose but your chains" and before anyone cranks up about the  big C I think it was from the IWW not the communists, cause the old man was not a communist he just wanted a square deal for his efforts. No worries Bill, I'm about as anti-communist as they come, but I still believe that everyone who's prepared to do a fair day's work should be entitled to a fair day's pay. No organisation is perfect and there will always be folks who have had bad experiences with unions, but no-one can argue with the that basic principle. Cheers, Terry.

The contracting IT company I work for has 90k employees globally and 500 million in surplus cash yet.....Busting ass at my job to get promoted to more work (TeamLead responsibilities), helping to get 3 more people employed (more money for my contracting company) and winning client trust for additional projects (more money for said company) will not see me a merit raise or level promotion possible for 2 years. I've been waiting for my new Ford Ranger company vehicle for the last month, so I rang my senior operations manager and asked him when it's due to be delivered, and he says, "it's on it's way from Thailand".

"Fcuking Thailand, you've gotta be kidding me, the only thing that comes outta Thailand is drugs and hookers!" I respectfully reply. He tells me that more commercial vehicles are built in Thailand now than any other country. Fcuk.

I'm sure that Ford did a labor pricing exercise and discovered that they could maximise their profits by having their products built in third world toilets with no trade union movement and no industrial relations worth a damn.

The worst thing for me is that I had a choice of a locally built Ford, but I chose the Ranger because I wanted something different, and I assumed that they were either made here or in the US. I'd cancel the order if I could, but I can't, so now I'm gonna be driving a POS that was probably built on a Friday by a drug addicted hooker...............
