I use cash always,I pile up coins in my work pack and once enough for a lunch I pay with loads of coins,if i see any coin on the ground Ill pick it up,its good luck!and I keep finding coins!in my job as dumpster driver I see lots of dead washing machines, flip them upside down and cut the hoses to the water pump and often a pile of coins falls out,we have 1 and 2 dollar coins here so its easy to get 10 bucks instantly!not pissed off.

The washing machines were probably dumped because they stopped working due to a clogged filter.

I've never bought anything from Meta, and didn't even know they were in the selling business.  As far as I know my info came from elsewhere.

They're in the info business (personal, financial etc), if it's out there it's their job to get it.... Facebook, Ebay, PayPal,MC, amex, X,  you name it... Then there's the scammers.... life has gotten way to complicated for no good reason....
I still use cash quite a bit (gas, food, etc, ok everything.), I get that look of annoyance from some people once in a while, (you know the look and the people) that says, "I got a fossil over here". Anyways, meta, yeah it sucks....
A few weeks ago, a friend got a message on his phone, appearing to be from his bank, asking if he had just spent $XXX at Walmart(?). He immediately responded that he hadn't to the link provided, and entered a "code" to confirm. As soon as he did, he realized he had just been scammed, and had his account frozen. He spent a bunch of time at the bank the next day getting things squared away.
A couple of months ago, I went into my bank to deposit a check, move some money from checking to savings, and withdraw some cash. The first two went as normal, but on the third, the teller said I would have to scan my debit card again, which is normal, but then she said "Oh, never mind, we're sending a text." I responded "What do you mean?" She says they will send me a code to verify my identity!!?? WTF, I'm standing right in front of her! I was pissed! I told her my phone was not a security device, and I never did banking over the phone or internet. After I read her the code from my phone, she did complete the transaction, but I told her the next time I would leave my phone in the car. Hell, I had texting turned off on my old phone: any texts people sent me went into the ether without me knowing. Not long after, there was a story in the news about a new way to steal someones identity: the perpetrator gets enough info about you to call your phone provider and convince them that someone has stolen your phone, or you lost it, and have the victims phone disabled and theirs activated with the victims number. They then call the bank to access the victims account, the bank sends a code to verify, and bingo, they're in. >:(
I'm also a fossil! I pay cash for everything except bills. I piss and moan about the Kiosks to order food at McDonalds and Taco Bell. I don't even have credit cards. ;D

The banking sequence sets me off. Since I retired, I DO NOT WANT a cell phone. Call my home number. If I’m not there, leave a message. If I don’t call you back: think about it.

The other day I sign in to do some electronic banking and suddenly the Bank decides they need an extra security check. I get the same stupid message and they text to my home landline. Too bad I’m in Honduras! Fortunately my wife was able to sign in and we got the transaction done. When I got home I called the bank and asked them for a solution. Still waiting!

If you'd have told me 50 yrs ago that we'd be doing what we're doing on a phone, I'd have said "no f&%n way!!!". I tell people who I give my number to, to text or msg me, I'll get back to ya when I get back to ya. I dont answer calls for the most part anymore, for the most part I don't even have my phone on me any more. Once I retired, no more phone, as a result no more problems to listen to, thk god... I'm certain that most people can't think independently anymore...
Reminds me of a Jimmy Buffett song, 'if the phone don't ring, its me!'.

Reminds me of a Jimmy Buffett song, 'if the phone don't ring, its me!'.

+1 to that!

Even more fun for example is having a bill for $10.21 and giving the brain dead cashier a twenty dollar bill and 21¢ just to watch their brain melt when they try to figure out the change. You would think that they would give you $10 but that's not what usually happens. 8)

This just happened to me the other day at the auto part store... if the machine (register) doesn't tell them what to do, they're stuck...
Ok, I'm done... too depressing...

The way it's described about people can't think independently anymore: exactly.
They must be exchanging their choice making 'will' in for a robot brain.

The last time I did this the cashier actually pulled out her phone and used the calculator. I thought the lady behind me was going to explode, we were trying so hard not to die laughing!

Today I needed a new battery for my wife’s FORD Escape. +$200. Notice how the “supply chain” issues that added costs to everything during COVID never disappeared?
