Got it ready for whatever comes next. One of these days that plow is just going to fall off the old 1980 FORD F350. It’s so rotten underneath I’m sure I could dismantle the entire truck with a hammer……

Walking up the driveway (after I running it back down to the barn), I noticed a few long streaks of fluid on the gravel!! Did  the “taste test” and didn’t seem bitter and scream brake fluid, but I wonder if I popped another line?? I did give it a quick wash, so hopefully it just unloaded some water? Will have a look tomorrow. This could definitely piss me off.

Do you have the Land Master set up with that plow you were looking at recently,as a back-up ?

Not going to bother. The old truck has a working heater and windshield wipers. As long as it hangs together I’ll keep it ready.

Windshield wipers and heat, that's luxury. 8) Sounds better than clearing over a foot of snow on my open tractor. The two cylinder diesel doesn't put out much heat. After that I have to come in and sit with my feet in front of the fire.

Had new Goodridge braided stainless Teflon lines on backorder for my Mini Cooper S for a month and not a peep from the company I ordered them from... Dropped them a line to customer service early this morning telling them I wanted an update or they would be getting the credit card company reverse the charges on them... First time dealing with this company and lines were on backorder when I ordered on Oct 3 and they said they would typically ship in 10-14 days.
They woke up and replied... I will give them until Monday to get their #$%* together to get me an answer on the ship date estimate or my credit card company will be getting a call...

I have a feeling my email prompted their order and they had let it sit all month...
Their reply copied and pasted below...

"Good morning David!

I’m sorry for the delay. We had to place an order with the manufacturer and have reached out to them for an estimated arrival time.

I understand your frustration and appreciate your patience. I’ll update you as soon as I have more information.

Thank you!"

Meanwhile the car sits until the lines get here as I don't want to flush the brake system twice to get air out of the lines...
Weather has been nicer than 100+ F degrees but my motivation is in need of serious help.
My transportation being the motorcycle and this time of year the temps are like 40-45f in early morning or before sunrise and 80f in the afternoon. Impossible to dress warm and then dressed way too warm in afternoon.
Rain in forecast Sunday and high temp in low 60s...

Yesterday my allergies were kicking my but and my eyes were hating it, mucus and green gunk, vision was clouded and it wasn't the cataracts. Used lots of vials of Refresh Plus eye drops to help with the dry eyes and cut the mucus. Wondering if I need to go see the opthalmologist about it, or my primary care doctor. Was pissing me off.

Taking a motorcycle safety training course since yesterday, went out this morning and loaded up bike and doing safety inspection before rude and front tire was completely flat, damn! Car is down doing some major work on it so no transportation for the class and didn't think to get my instructor's phone number in case something came up. So going to have to makeup day 2 of the 2 day riders course in a bit over a week. Sucks that ai cannot do it today, that pisses me off, with car down I don't have a way to take tire anywhere to get it patched if it needs a plug...without getting an expensive Uber.

Fcuking Uber eats. I put my back out yesterday and so decided to order some groceries. I ordered them off the supermarket web site, and then an hour or so later they couldn’t for some reason “find” any of the frozen TV dinners I ordered. Funnily enough, all the items that didn’t require refrigeration were available. Something fishy considering that they couldn’t supply even 1 of the 7 frozen items I ordered. Turds. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Deep well pump died yesterday. Pump is 50’ down with a built in check valve holding water in the line. Add the long “Tee” bar used for lifting it out of the wedge connection and it’s big deal. The old tractor and some chain are required to get it out. Unfortunately the base of the well has filled in a bit, so I had to shorten the line 30” and will need to get it cleaned out eventually…… I hate having to call in a contractor. Pisses me off.

Been there done that. Where I grew up, we had 2 wells, 1 hand dug and the other drilled (around 1938), the later was the daily well and only 27' deep, considered shallow even then. The foot valve failed (or so we thought), and we had to dig down 3 feet just to uncover the well head then pull up a 24' hard line (OMFkgG). The hard line had developed a pin hole thus it wouldn't hold a prime, replaced all of it, problem solved.... so yeah....
Start with the end in mind...

We replaced the pump +20 years ago, so no big complaints. There was a foot of snow on the ground that time! This was better. With any luck, this one will outlast me!

Lets hope!!!!!
It's been a long time since I had to worry about a well... growing up a 100' well was considered deep, now they're 3 times that...

Living on this property for the past 35 years has taught us some self reliance, and it definitely takes two. Yesterday I was lucky enough to speak to the lady whose husband originally drilled this well (1998). She put me in touch with her son (who was here with his Dad in 1998) and now runs the business. I suspect the well needs a clean out, because I had to shorten the supply line by 2’ to get it all back in. Some things are best left to the experts!

Left front fork on 19 V strom is leaking at a good rate, fluid past the seal. Bad timing as the VStrom is my current only transportation. The brake hoses for the Mini Cooper S finally arrived today, 6 weeks after ordering them. Glad Goodridge finally filled the backorder, not sure if it was a delay on Goodridge'* part of the shop I ordered them from...
Markup on the hoses most places is eye watering...was able to find them for $13x as one supplier who generally is affordable listed them at $175. Also listed as a backorder from them...
Box has Goodridge's labeled tape so I am betting they ship direct from Goodridge. I wonder if the are made on demand?

Not sure if I can get the forks off the VStrom with it on the pit stand. I do not have a bike lift.
Wonder what the Musselman's Honda dealer would charge me to change it out? I do not wish to give RideNow Suzuki dealer a dime, they are not good people/shop.

David, it might be worth a cheap quick fix to try a seal mate. I have heard of many people having success with them.

Thanks Jim, ordered a couple in case one is damaged...

John, I have helped a buddy who has a well drilling business. We pulled one that was 125 or 150 foot using manual hoisting and a pair of modified vice grips to clamp on between lifts. Talk about a work out, was a 2 man job alternating the lift from well pipe height which was about 3 feet to as high as you could reach or lift...
You felt it afterwards...
At the time Jim had the explosives licenses to be able to set off a small charge in the bottom of the well to get a well that hard water had shutdown and as long as it didn't crack the casing it was usually successful. This was in central Ohio and hard water is extremely common.
Another one was only 75 feet.
Most companies charge big bucks and have a bucket crane with wench setup and they charge a huge fee just to show up and if the pull the pump and almost equal fee of several hundred depending upon depth. Jim didn't gouge like that on his customers...much more reasonable.
The geyser from blowing a well to get it to produce again was a Whump then it was like a oil derrick hit water for several seconds.  It would take a day or two for the wAter to clear up, but it often worked and saved people a huge expense in drilling a new well.

David….. a neighbour showed me his “well vacuum”. He blows compressed air down a hose to a modified well siphon head. There is a larger hose coming back up. Apparently driving the head down into the muck at the bottom and injecting air blows out sand, rocks and mud from the bottom of the well. He’s in a very Sandy area and has to do it every 18 months! I’ll try it in the Spring when the weather is nicer.
