I went and saw the doc today which is something that I don't do very often.
The back of my upper left leg gets this burning sensation for about 5 seconds and then it goes away.
This happens at any time whether sitting or standing.

It sort of feels like a shark is biting you on the arse.
Not that I know what it feels like to be bitten on the arse by a shark but I reckon that I'd be pissed off if a shark did bite me on the arse.  ;D

Anyway, this doc starts asking me all of these questions which led to nowhere in particular.
Then she starts tapping in my knee with that reflex tester thing.
Nothing was happening with that for the first few taps and then she hit the right spot and my foot bucked up and nearly kicked her in the box.

Then she tells me that it's got her fcuked what's causing this and to come back again in 2 weeks.
That'll be 80 bucks thanks.

So out the door I go and I'm thinking that I should've just gone to pub and pushed the 80 bucks over the bar and that leg would be numb along with everything else that it's attached to.
I'm pissed off with myself for not thinking about that first.  ;D
Doctors piss me off Mick.  That sounds similar to the pain I get in my back.  I have a collapsed disc in my lower back, it presses on a nerve more often than not.  The doctors couldn't do anything other than prescribe more and more pain killers.

I ended up getting on to a fella who does acupuncture, I went from needing a stick to be able to walk to running and jumping again after only 2 sessions.  I now go for a session every 2-4 weeks and I can get around for the most part with minimal pain.  It isn't fixed but it is managed.  Nice feeling at the ripe old age of 28 :-\.

Geez mate, I just cranked up 50 bloody 8 and I'm still feelin' dangerous.  ;D

My backs been fairly buggered since I was about 18 from being a bloody maniac when I was a bit hairyer.  ;D

Still, the ol' Doc just said to learn to live with it and that's just how it is.
Trouble was, when you go shovin' the ol' Pork Sword into every bit of skirt that comes within radar range, you end up with shagger's back as punishment.  ;D

I just got home from the pub and kicked the boots and socks off and that bloody leg has settled down now although it's still havin' a bit of a nip.
Half of these doctors wouldn't know sh1t from clay.

This sheila doctor today told me to write down when my leg gets the electric shock/shark bite and I've already filled a fcuken A4 page up this afternoon.

I'm gonna fix the bastard the Mick way and they can bash the 80 bucks fair up their clacka.
Pissed off.  ;D
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

My back is junk so I see a chiropractor on a regular basis, he's a great chiropractor but sucks at all things mechanical so we pretty much work on a barter system, he gets me back on my feet and I fix his stuff and I can always tell he has something planned for me when he starts giving me free back adjustments and so far he hasn't charged me a dime in over 3 months.

I hurt my back earlier this week and am taking the weekend off to let it heal up but when I went to get my back popped yesterday he again didn't charge me but gave me a list of things he wanted me to look at like getting all his lawn mowers ready for spring and also check the brakes on his car. I said I'd get right on on it as soon as I could but could he wait at least till next weekend for me to do it so my back has some time to heal up?

Mick find someone who is good at acupuncture and give it a crack.  Don't just go to them because they have a sign that says acupuncture.  I've been to a few who aren't worth a pinch of #$%*.  It really works, but you must find someone who is really good at it.  The other thing I found to help a little before my back got too bad was an inversion table, doesn't do much for me now, but it is pretty much #$%*ed now.

I had one of those Inversion Tables years ago mate when the back pain was suicidal.
I was ready to switch the bloody lights out rather than put up up with that debilitating pain.
The ol' doc gave me some Morphine to take home and that was better than LSD with a few Bundies on board.

I'll give acupunture a blast mate if this keeps giving me much more sh1t.
There's a reason for it because it just started out of the blue a coupla 3 weeks ago.

All that I can think of that's changed is that I've been driving a manual car over the last few weeks instead of an auto, and it could be that the left leg has got a pinched nerve from pushing the cluch.

I dunno mate, but I'll work it out.
There's a bloody reason for everything.

I think that you just have to work out what works for yourself Scott when it comes to back pain.
I can remember feeling bloody hopeless with no direction and just floating like around like a seagull in the ocean.
Those painkillers work but they do your head in after a while.

I get into my head that it isn't going to beat me and take that on with a fierce desire to carry on the best that can be.

No pain killers for me at least not yet, the problem is my bad back is making issues with my legs now from time to time but the condition isn't severe enough for any doctor to want to operate so in the meantime my chiropractor keeps my back pain free and on my feet. For the most part it doesn't bother me at all, I see him once a month just to make sure all is well but from time to time I over do it and my back lets me know it, nothing excruciating but the kind of pain that tells me that if I make one wrong move it will drop me and that's when I'll see my chiro ahead of schedule. It doesn't help that I'm a structural steel fabricator so I'm on my feet all day and have to move heavy pieces from time to time. :'(

What a day, my son came over in the little Hyundai that we loaned him when the cops nabbed him for driving his Ford exploder around with bald tyres and no rego, so before he fcuked off I did an oil change on the poor little beast, I think the last time that it had an oil change was around February last year, so I wasn't gonna let him outta the driveway before I did one.

As anyone who's ever had one of these things knows, they're great little cars, definitely built to a price, but virtually indestructible. Anyway, I crawled around underneath it for a half hour or so, installed a new filter, added a litre of Moreys oil stabiliser as I have no idea when it'll get another oil change, topped it up with nice fresh oil, and it'll be good for another year or so.

OK, so now I was in the mood to tackle the old 'Wang. I'd had a problem with it overheating since I put it together, so I ordered a genuine OEM Honda thermostat, rad cap, and hoses. The prices were criminal, but I didn't wanna do the job again in 6 months time, so I didn't cheap out and buy aftermarket parts.

I created a diversion sending the missus and my boy up to the local Kentucky Fcuked Duck to get some lunch, and as soon as they pissed off, I sneaked into the kitchen and tested my new thermostat against the old one in one of the missus' beaut stainless steel saucepans on the stove. As expected, the new one opened much earlier than the old one and opened all the way, whereas the old one only opened a couple of mm's. In the bin it went.

I quickly rinsed and dried her pot and put it away, then made sure I didn't leave any incriminating evidence around for her to catch me, then went back out to the garage with only minutes to spare, whew! Thanks KFC for your usual shiitty slow service!

After a gutful of dead chook washed down with a Crownie, I staggered back out to install the 'stat, re-install the rad, filled it up with coolant, and fired the fcuker up. Brooooom! Away it went. I let it sit for around 30 minutes and the needle on the temp gauge slowly crept up to the halfway mark, then the 'stat opened and the needle dropped down to the quarter mark, and stayed there until I got tired of looking at it, and switched the bike off. I hosed all the spilt coolant off the alloy before it did any damage, then re-assembled all of the plastic bits.

Once I put the bike away, put the tools away, and had a much needed shower it was around 6pm, and I was knackered. crawling around on the concrete floor all day was too much for my poor old back, and so now I'm feeling it, and the sciatica is playing up, sending little electric shocks down each leg. As much as I'm glad that I got those two jobs out of the way, and am looking forward to a nice long ride tomorrow, knowing that I'm gonna be sore as buggery for the rest of the weekend pisses me off........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I spent the day sitting on top of my old mans cane harvester refitting the injector pump on a 3208 Cat.  It was a #$%* of a job sitting in the sun on a 32 degree day, over 10 foot off the ground, so everytime you forgot a spanner you had to climb down and up again.  I think I must have damn near climbed Mount Kosciuszko by the end of the day, I stunk of diesel, my arms hurt from trying to get the prick of a primer pump to work, I have sunburn on the back of my neck, and my back hurts from being hunched over all day.  I was just glad to finally see a the puff of soot from the pipe once it was finally running.  Here's hoping it doesn't need anything else done on it for a while.

Wish I could ride tomorrow, surgeon has said prob be a couple of months! Wtf.

I thought your story Tez was going to end with the mrs finding some evidence in the kitchen, and you wearing a saucepan for a helmet  :o

Sorry to hear (well see, I suppose) that you're laid low Pete, best of luck mate, and don't push it, you don't wanna rip your stitches and undo all the surgeons good work. Years ago I had keyhole surgery on my left leg to fix up my Carpal Tunnel syndrome in my left leg. All went well, and a couple of weeks later I was riding my old BMW R100RS over to the surgery to get the stitches removed.

It was a beaut Autumn day, I was riding around the back streets of Camberwell, the road was covered in Autumn leaves, and when I went to lean around a corner, the front wheel skidded on some fcuking leaves, and to save myself I shoved the foot out speedway style, and burst the fcuking stitches. To say that the surgeon was a tad pissed off was an understatement, and he banned me from riding for 3 fcuking months!

Of course I paid no attention to him and kept riding, but luckily for me I had no further instances after that. Anyway, all the best Pete, get well soon mate. Are you coming across for the Broadford Bike Bonanza? Cheers, Terry.

Cheers mate. Still not able to stand up straight or move too fast.
I won't be over for Broadford, but I wish I was! I'm going to need all the time up to and including Easter to get fit enough to go back to work the Tuesday after. I'm not supposed to be driving for at least a week, and at the moment I couldn't anyway. That pisses me off.

Deck the fcuker Dave, for me ! I've spent a week trying to get a gazillion PCs updated before his wretched company pulls the plug on XP support. The only decent OS they have produced in years (although Win 7 is nice also, but NOT Win 8 and don't get me started on Vista) and they want to kill it off to generate more revenues. Bill pisses me off cause he's a dork.

I've been unable to become pissed off at anything recently. What should I do?
