Those Motobatt batteries are good Mick, I did some work on a blokes bike last year and he had one, and even though the bike hadn't been ridden in 3 or 4 months, it still had enough charge left in it to fire it up.
Disuse kills batteries more than anything else, and most of my bikes only get ridden now and then, so I bought several Optimate 4 chargers, and I have them permanently hooked up, and they're brilliant.
The battery in my Triumph is 7 years old, and is in perfect condition, and as the Optimate's can desulphate and charge totally discharged batteries, I was able to recharge the battery in my FJ1200, even though the bike shop told me that it was stuffed.
My ride-on mower hadn't had a run in the last 12 months and the battery that I bought for it in 2009 was as flat as Rolf Harris' girlfriend and my poor old Arlec charger couldn't bring it back to life, so I hooked it up to the Optimate 4 and after 24 hours, it was good again.
I guess it sounds like I'm an agent for Optimate chargers, but I'm not, and that pisses me off, it's just that before I bought one I used to chuck out bike batteries every 12 months, and it's good that I haven't had to throw a battery away for a couple of years now. Cheers, Terry.
