Ahhh, another busy Monday morning, what'll I do today? Work on the XR500, or fix the dodgy ignition on the mighty 'Wang? Of course it's cold outside, so I better have breakfast and wait until it warms up a bit. Monday's don't piss me off like they used to........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

My wife and I drove down to Colorado Springs for breakfast and there was something huge going on downtown and it involved motorcycles. So after we got done eating we decided to go over and check it out. It was bike week. Only....just for Sunday. I figured it might be cool to check out and walk around. The bikes were all HD's (baggers and choppers mostly). The people watching was noting short of incredible. At one point we found ourselves in between a group of Mongols and Banditos and my wife was a little nervous but nothing happened. I was a little stunned that, given all the rough looking types that we walked past, I got lip from a guy wearing a Bikers for Christ vest. He was standing there handing out stickers that said.....Bikers for Christ and I said, "No thanks." He then yelled, "I was talking to the girl!!"

Yep, I only knew for sure when the Aussie Post delivery lady knocked on my door to drop off some more bike parts. I did end up doing some work outside today, so it wasn't a total bludge. (yes it was...........) ;D

Mick, Terry, Bear, whoever, I've got a political question for you, your voting system how does it work for you?
Does it reflect what everyone  wants? How easy is it to fiddle? How hard is it to figure out? Yes I could spend hours on the net trying to sort out the various proponents but in the end that's a bunch of pseudo experts trying to push their opinions/biases to the top. What I want is the practicalities not the BS. Yes I understand that you must vote does it interfere with the system?
Bill the demon.

Hi Bill, It goes like this, you go into a room, there are 3 pictures of the #$%*wits you have to vote for, in front of each #$%*wit is a box of darts, you stand there and throw darts at the one you think is the biggest #$%*wit, and #$%* me dead if i'm lying, the biggest #$%*wit wins.... Whats it like in your neck of the woods    :o
Here in Vermont if you eat kale, don't wear makeup, are "progressive" you vote socialist (bernie sanders) whom talks tough, but doesn't get anything passed in congress that actually changes anything. same old same old. that pisses me off.

In France it seems to be much simpler, but as I am not permitted to partake I can't say for certain. To me it appears that you are given two choices, Raving red commie or far right facist. Typically people like alternance here, so the seem to vote in the guy from the party that lost last time around. The system only ever changes when we get invaded by another country.

Kev

My old country seems to be voting itself too close to Russia and the current Czech president is an alcoholic, how about that? ;D

Pete, if it helps I rolled out of bed at about 9 this morning when the missus called me when my pancakes were ready.  It was a drizzly sort of day, so I went for a drive to town and had a sticky beak through supercheap, autobarn and repco.  Ordered a luggage pod for the roof of the car and then came home.  It was still drizzling so I parked my arse on the lounge and watched a movie with the kids, they are on school holidays.  Tomorrow I really need to get stuck into the shed but we have the wife's cousin coming up from Brisbane for the day, I might get a few hours in there but I will lose the best part of the day cooking the barbecue ;D.

If you've got all that time on your hands Tez, ear mark a Thursday and wander up and see us.
Blow the cobwebs out with a nice five hour ride on the "Lead Wing".
An evening out at the bike club for "Thirsty Thursday", a nice warm bed for the night (no pup tents this time).
Then you can waddle off home when ever you like.

Cheers,
Brian

That sounds like a lovely way to spend a Thursday Brian, thanks mate, I might have to take you up on that invite! It might also spur me on to fixing the dodgy ignition on the mighty 'wang, which has sidelined it for the last few months. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Bla Bla Bla. A pic is worth a thousand words, huh. I hate it when a priority pops up in the schedule.

My rear brake came apart on a ride to meet friends at the trails.

If I couldn't have buttoned everything back up (and had to walk) I'd have really been pissed.

"Mechanics" piss me off. You take your car to them to fix something and they find 10 other things that apparently need immediate repairing, for ten times their original quote, then when you finally get you car back, you need to crawl around under your car and fix all the things they fcuked up. Seriously, there are more bad mechanics out there than good, and the only equipment they can use correctly is a fcuking calculator!

Case in point, my beautiful "Rally Roo".Ever since I had the stainless headers installed, the "Check Engine" light has come on, and even disconnecting the battery for a couple of days to reset the ECU hasn't done squat. I promised the wife I'd take her for a drive to Maldon tomorrow, so I decided to jack it up and see what the "mechanic" had forgotten to plug back in this arvo. Sure enough, once I jacked it up, I saw a plug dangling under the car, probably where it'd been disconnected when the original headers were removed.

Much worse though, ATF was pissing out in the region of the transmission oil cooler. It was a simple enough cock up, the "mechanic" had overtightened the hose clamp, and tore the hose. Because I'd been parking it on my front lawn, I hadn't seen any drips, so if I hadn't driven it into the carport and jacked it up, I probably would have blown up the transmission. Once I'd worked out what he'd fcuked up, it was pretty simple to fix it, but it still pisses me off that I paid this turkey 1500 bucks, and I then had to spend time fixing his fcuk ups. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hey Tez, if I had to guess I would say that those headers don't have a spot for the oxy sensor, which will be causing the engine light.  You can buy a weld in socket for oxy sensors from most exhaust shops, but you will need the sensor/s out of the old headers.  If memory serves me correctly there should be one sensor for each bank, but it has been a while since I have done much on the roos.  ;D

Thanks Andrew, I initially thought the same thing, but the oxy sensor is a bit further back on the cat, on this one. I'm taking it for a decent drive tomorrow so if the CEL doesn't come on, I'll know that I've fixed it. Cheers, Terry.

I can only tell you that here, once those CELs come on, resetting them generally requires a DTC reader. The ECU has self-sustaining memory and it could take weeks to years before it ever self clears. Don't know the year and details of your Aron, Terry, but if you can, the local auto parts stores here have DTC readers that you can pull into the lot, they read, then "you" clear. Local "laws" here prohibit them from clearing the codes...

My sedan will throw a CEL if the gas filler cap is not snug. Forget to do so at the filling station, and you've earned yourself a light until you get by the shop or store to clear it. Drives you nuts, you know why it's burning (or at least hoping so) but the trouble to clear it is a major PITA for the nuisance of one click too few on the cap.

Thanks Cal, I did some research on Subaru CEL's when it first happened, and the way to reset the ECU on just about any modern car is to disconnect the battery overnight, and it'll reset when you restore power to the ECU. The problem with my car is that Subaru didn't install an OBD2 scanner plug in their Australian cars before 1998, (1996 in the US) and as mine is a 1995 model, I have to find a special cable to go from the pre-OBD2 plug to an OBD2 scanner to make sense of what's wrong.

I intend to buy the scanner anyway, as it'll work on my Ford Exploder and my wife's Hyundai, but in the meantime disconnecting the battery is a cheap option. If you can't afford to leave the battery disconnected overnight, you can (apparently) just disconnect it, then hold the brake pedal down to remove any residual power still kicking around the harness, and re-connect the battery. I saw that work on "Top Gear USA", but I can't remember which model car they did it on? Cheers, Terry. ;D
