I hate it when Dave calls me a peasant, and rubs my nose in his success. God, I'd give anything to have a job, and be able to work and pay taxes like Dave, but it's not my fault that I have a medical condition that prevents me from being able to get out of bed before 10 am?

It just pisses me off that rich bastards like Dave think it's OK to insult us underprivileged types who would work if we could? You try spending 12 hours a day in bed Dave, take a walk in MY shoes, and you might lose some of those prejudices............

It'd piss you off more Dave, if this thread led you to believe that you should see it. "An Orifice and a Mentalman" was your usual Hollywood crap, like "Full Mental Jackoff" and "Fartsake Bridge", to name but a few.

If you want to see an honest war movie, watch a German or British one. Did you know that the real "Great Escape" did not actually involve one American serviceman? True story.

It pisses me off that Hollywood blatantly changes history just to get "Bums on seats" in American Cinema's, regardless of how inaccurate their version of history is. Cheers, Terry.

Yeah Terry it is particularly galling to me as well, so that I don't watch them any more because I know that it will be all bull#$%* if it was a Canadian, Australian, Indian, Polish or whoever action you know that there will be a (current beauty(?)) and an American hero if hollywood gets hold of it. Hollywood will like it even better if it can use American marines in it or the latest, Navy Seals. It's funny, I'm old enough and know enough history to see the accelerating trend towards America being the only country to save the world for Christianity, capitalism, freedom and the American way in Hoolywoods eyes.

Antony Beevor has been writing some good books with a more even handed approach.  D-Day: The Battle of Normandy, Stalingrad, and Berlin: Downfall 1945, are three I have read and would recommend.

Many of the more recent books that have been written have been trying for a more even handed approach and leaving all the nationalistic jingoism behind.   In Normandy though they had a much easier landing once inland the Brits/Canadians faced the bulk of the German armored divisions.  The allies really didn't have effective armor that could match up one to one against the Tiger, Panther, or the deadly Flak 88 gun and they payed a high price.
    But let's face it:  All the efforts by the Western Allies pale in comparison to the contribution made by the Soviet Union.  They just bludgeoned the German Army to death by shear force and weight of numbers without regard to casualties.

You must be living in the wrong city or are just a fearful type.  We do it all the time here.  Downtown to the riverfront for a stroll or head for one of the many city lakes...all late at night 10pm-2am.  Late night ice cream uptown...we're night people and we cruise the city at night.  This Thursday the  downtown Walker Art Gallery is showing 50 of the best you tube cat videos after dark on the side of the building.  We'll be there.  

   You should be safe at night in Utah...aren't  all the Mormons tucked in bed at night in their magic underwear?

I couldn't be a Mormon. Nothing against their religion, and while multiple wives might seem attractive, multiple mother-in-laws would put the kybosh on any benefits therein, but the main reason that I couldn't convert to Mormonism(?) is that I couldn't wear underpants to bed, they'd make my balls sweat like hell!
