Thanks guys, and I'm sorry I pissed you off with my reference to the "Diff" Dave, I don't know what else to call it ("Final Drive Assembly"?) where I can shorten it to 4 letters (I'm a 2 finger typist) and still have everyone here understand it? Would it be OK if I just keep calling it a "Diff" even though we know that's technically incorrect? Anyway, sorry mate.
Thanks Pete, a lot of folks don't know that you can disassemble a CB750's fuel cap. Ron, (MCRider) didn't know until I told him, after he went to great lengths to replace the seal, which is a snack once you pull the guts out of the shell.
Blue, I like the idea of a toggle switch, and I think that's what I'll do. There's a big hole where the OEM stereo was, and I'm gonna make up a filler panel with a clock, volt gauge, oil pressure gauge, power outlet etc, so I'll add a toggle switch for the fan while I'm at it. I haven't noticed a problem with the cush drive yet, but I'll check it out. The bike's done 94,000 miles with no maintenance in the last 10 years, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was stuffed too.
Tim, good to see you in print mate, and I'm disappointed too that I didn't go and drink some beers somewhere along the way. I was watching the time as I was hoping to get back home before the wife returned so I wouldn't have to get her to move her car so I could get thru, but sadly I spent all my drinking time on the side of the road, and when I got home the wife had just arrived, so I still had to go thru all the rigmarole of moving cars to get bikes into the garage. Ironically though, I passed 2 "Random Breath Test" stations that the cops were setting up, so I might have been lucky that I was sober. I did have a couple of scotch and dry's when I got home though, which was nice.
Hey Dusty, I sold the GS1000 before Christmas, but the buyer (who I've been yacking with on the 'net for years but have never actually met) owns 40(+) GS Suzies, including several race bikes, one of which was over $100K, I believe. He was in no rush to pick it up but he's paid me for it, and he said I can ride it all I like until he picks it up, which is good, because the club permit is good for a few more months. Cheers, Terry.
