Don't be getting snippy boys.  8)

You know what we do to snippy boys in Vermont, right.  :'(

Rearrange our furniture and try to push our stools in? Oooher, the humanity............ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Speaking of cross dressers, etc etc, which Australia seems to have a lot of....
A Male friend of  mine goes into the bathroom at work.
There is a woman at the unrinals.
He complained about women using the men's room to his manager.
He was reprimanded for being 'insensitive' to people with an Alernate lifestyle.
Huh?
Apparantly this he/she/it was upset he asked he/she/it to leave the MEN's room.
It pissed him off that while he is pissing ....well anyways, he complained to district
management and they decided to add a bathroom marked only with a sign that
said BATHROOM
and told he/she/it to only use that one Not the MEN's or WOMAN's until he/she/it
made up it's mind which one it really was.

What a world.

I worked with artists and some of them were openly gay.  I always felt like telling them to go to the ladies room when they stood next to me at the urinals.

Yes, I am chauvinist pig and gay rights and issues pushed on me from every TV show and news piss me right off.

You can go to that bar and be safe, np.  Only if you drop something, you will need to kick it all the way out before you try to pick it up   ;D

FFS guys, you cannot substitute the word "then" for "than" and vice versa. It's making me crotchitty.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

pseudo-intellectuals piss me off

Example: when the man wearing the T-shirt "I'm with Stupid  ------->"
starts expanding on his reasons why solar power is more efficient than nuclear power, and can't explain the difference between a watt and voltage....
then he should give the T-shirt to his partner, non.

Michel, there are plenty of reasons why solar is more efficient without knowing the difference between volts and watts......So watt's your point...??... ;D

Rocket,
my point is IF you proclaim yourself as "...probably the smartest person in the room..."
which he did, and he continued in that vein, I just felt his attempted explanation of
seveal points were invalid; to wit, solar power is nice, looks pretty but is actually
very inefficient, costly and would not survive in the marketplace without government
subsidies, and rate fixing/gouging of ratepayers currently using cheaper forms of electrical
generation.

WATT he says?

Exactly, I say. He couldn't follow my premises and conclusions as they didn't fit into his anti-establishment, PC agenda. *

peace,
michel

*we have an disproportionate number of pompous individuals in Vermont whom enjoy spewing "facts" around when they only have a limited dataset to backup their premises to validate their invalid argument.

That may have been so 10 years ago but with China producing most of the photo voltaic panels, prices have fallen dramatically. Over here you can get a starter kit of 8 large panels and a 3.5 kilowatt inverter for little over 1400 dollars, upgradeable as well, my mate Craig has 20 panels and a 5 kilowatt inverter , his power bills were around $1000 a quarter,  now he earns money each quarter, the power company pays him each quarter for excess power produced, no bill at all. I just think the USA is miles behind with alternative power. Looking out my front window, most houses have solar hot water and or solar panels on their roofs {solar hot water systems have been around here since the early 70's} , they were subsidized originally but now , even with the subsidies gone, the price for panels has dropped dramatically with the uptake. I have no idea why you would think its inefficient, thats simply not the case.... Solar power is huge here, cheap, efficient and well worth the effort..... Looks like you were both wrong......Pissed off..?    ;D ;D :P

Getting laid off pisses me off. A good privately owned company gets bought out by a corporation an within 2 weeks they lay off a third of the workforce.

Actually solar power is STILL subsidized in the USA.

My brother installed solar panels, YAH!,
cost $22,000.00. Federal rebate (subsidy) $8.500.00
state rebate (subsidY) $2,500.00

He sells the power he generates to the electric company for $0.03
BUT if he needs to buy power, on cloudy days or whatever,
he pays $0.07562.

Therefore he is "subsidizing" the electric company, or should I say,
he is producing power fot the electric company cheaper than on the
open, unregulated marketplace.

Without government subsidies solar power would not be feasible for most commoners.

Does it piss me off? not really, as all us normal people subsidize many large coporations whether by choice or fiat and if it pissed me off I'd never be able to function as I'd be pissed off all the time.

Thats similar to whats happening here. It sounds like you are still paying top dollar for solar power products though, because with a $20,000 dollar system here you would never have a bill to pay. my mate has a big house with a huge fish tank, dual flat at the rear where his 2 sons live, with bathrooms and kitchen,  5 fridges running all the time, 2 freezers, a salt water swimming pool and plenty of other stuff, his  bills were triple what i pay for power, now, he now makes money from the scheme so you would have to say he's definitely winning.... ;D  I still fail to see where solar is inefficient..?  I have friends up north that live near where i own my property and they are fully self contained, no mains power at all, they have computers and TV's and everything else we have and have never bothered to get the power connected to their property, their system isn't that big either....

Well, you have to take into consideration the
overcast winter days here in Vermont/New Hampshire, usa.
 Power production has historically
been less than 40% of his summer generation on a
monthly basis, not daily, obviously.

Solar panels still work on cloudy days, they need light not necessarily direct sunlight. In saying that, they definitely don't generate the same amount of power under cloudy conditions, about 40% less depending on conditions {more or less}. There are also more than one type of solar cells , they all have their pro's and cons depending on your circumstances. Probably time for a change of subject before we piss off the regular contributors.... 8) {although, isn't that the reason for the thread}    :P
