wow they used snakes for push rods?

That's what snake oil is for.

It's actually the second time he's left it set outside in cold weather without covering the exhaust and he fixed it the same way he did the last time, just a couple pieces of lumber and a hammer to straighten them out, reset the valve lash and it was good to go. It's one of them old beat up farm tractors that refuses to die.

Funny, I just bought an impact driver a couple of hours ago. I guess yours had to die so mine could live. Great circle of life and all that.

Just fcuked an oil scraper ring.
You fcuken dirty cuunt.  ;D
Fcuk I'm pissed off.  ;D

I was having a good run and then the missus yells out "TEAS READY"
So like a fcuken idiot I started hurrying up and caught the fcuka on the bottom of the sleeve and fcuked it.

Well it's only a bit outta shape but I'm not gonna take a chance with it.
You can get a set of rings for 1 piston for about 30 bucks from JE outta the States  but I want 'em right fcuken now.  ;D

Having tea on time has just fcuked me up and I'm pissed off.  ;D

Geezus Mick, stop stalling and shove that bloody ring back in, it'll be fine! Do what Scott's brother does with his pushrods, give it a smack with a hammer and poke it back in, it's not gonna break mate, when have you ever heard of a ring breaking anyway?

You're a skinny bugger, so I doubt that your missus was saying "Tea's ready" to get you moving like that, I reckon she was yelling out "She's ready!", or words to that effect......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

What tf is it with tea time, tee time, or only  drinking alcohol after 5 P.M. anyway?  Do what you are doing until it's time you can take a break and have tea.

We just started the ferguson because the van only pulled the trailor about 40' and then stuck. Been a ice melt-off and mud situation. Only pulled the caravan another 30' before it dug in and quit. unhitched the trailor and  hopefully it moves easy after things dry out in a day or two. But when we started the tractor he gave me the soup can off the exhaust to hold...

I'll have to show  your pics.  Best possible post consumer use for your next soup can it seems.

Oh yeah, if you have a mill you can put them (or valves in  the vise and use the head to check for straightness as you tink on them with a hammer . It has worked well several times for valves that are irregular after  being involved in a timing belt/chain a timing malfinction.  But those, I'd look for repops.

It's all good now mate.  ;D
After punching myself in the eye about catching that oil expander/spacer ring (the thin one) I had a coupla WT's and settled down.  ;D

It was just the end that was pulled outta shape a bit when I wasn't paying attention.
Anyway, I remembered that I had a spare set of Cyclex 850 rings that were left over from a piston that I'd previously cut right through one of the valve reliefs when I was trying to get some clearance on that nasty Ivan Tighe cam with CB900 rods up it's clacker.  ;D

It's that close that I can't see any difference.
We're only talking .010" each side from 836 to 850 so the jobs right.

Next time when it's tea time, I'm gunna tear a top off of stubby and stay down in the shed.  ;D
Having tea on time pisses me off.  ;D

Well done mate, I've got so much crap here that I forget what I've got, so if something stuffs up I can usually find a good replacement without having to order another one.

I'm pissed off that my poor old Dad is just about stuffed. He turns 87 on January the 6th, and I'm hoping that he makes it. For Christmas, he handed me the keys to his old Ford Falcon wagon. It's just a stock '84 XF with T Bar auto and not much else, the only thing going for it really is that it's pretty much mint, with only 114,000 klicks (under 71,000 miles) on the odometer, and completely original, the tyres still have some of the factory air in them. To him it was a huge thing though, an acceptance that his driving days are over, and the hope that I'll look after the old beast for him.

He was keen to come back to his house (He's been in hospital for the last few weeks) so he could check to make sure everything was Ok and see his pups, but Mum (who's 85 and not in the best of health either) couldn't take him, because he's so weak now that he can't get in and out of the car on his own, and the walk from the street to the front door is a huge effort for him. While he understands this is why he can't go home, it pisses him off.

Yesterday I put half a tank of fresh 95 RON fuel into the ol' Falcon to freshen up the half a tank of stale fuel, and pumped up the tyres. (it hasn't been driven in around a year) I took it for a 20 mile drive to blow the cobwebs out, then drove up to the Hospital and picked him up, took him for a drive around town, then around to their house, and sat him in the lounge so he could watch the cricket and see his pups. He had to be back at the hospital by 1pm so he could take his tablets and have lunch, but that was Ok as the weather was stinking hot (100 Deg F) and I think he was happy to be back in the cool of the hospital. He told me he had a great day, and made me promise I'd bust him out of hospital again when I drive down again next week.

I parked the old Ford back in his garage, locked his house up and drove my wonderful 450 dollar Subaru the 200 miles back home with the aircon up high. Next trip I'll give the old Ford a service and get a new exhaust fitted, (the one on it is still the factory original, but it rattles and is leaking a tad) I'll change all the belts and hoses and replace the left side mirror which is duct taped on after Dad took it off on the gate a couple of years ago.

I haven't got enough room in my garage, so it can stay in Dad's garage until after he and Mum either move into a retirement home or kark it, then I'll have to decide what to do with it. Whatever happens, I'll be keeping it, the car's probably worth nothing, but the memories are priceless. Cheers, Terry. ;D

You're a good son Terry, busting your Dad out. You'll have no regrets later about the time spent with him now.

I'm pissed I can't go visit my Dad, he passed on almost two years ago.  He had a Falcom too, was a Ford man. He'd be pissed when I'd park my non-Fords in his driveway!
And he wanted me to take care of his dog so I have him....

Their gunna have a wet arse in Karratha to finish off 2013.
Nothing like a CAT 3 Cyclone to piss ya off.  ;D

The BOM alternates male/female names each time a cyclone develops and it seems that it's always the cyclones with a female name that turn nasty and end up wrecking the joint when they drop in for a visit.
But we already knew that.  ;D

It'd be gusting between 100 to 140 MPH Stevo.
http://www.bom.gov.au/cyclone/about/intensity.shtml
I think that the Category ratings are the same or similar to a Hurricane.

Hurricanes, Cyclones and Typhoons are all basically the same......

The only difference is where they occur.

The USA uses the Saffir-Simpson hurricane intensity scale for the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific basins.

Only slightly different then the Ozzie one. US category speeds are about 10-15 mph higher across the scale.

Ozzie Cat 1 = 35-48 knts (appox) US Cat 1 = 55-71 knts

Terry, tell your dad I feel for him, I'm stuck in my daughter's house with DVT and can't drive my house is 3-3.5 hours away and it grinds on my soul that I'm not there, now, I'm making the assumption that a few more pills and I'll be able to make the trip, but I can see the time approaching when I'll have to give up the car (I'm 11K, 15 min from the nearest town) and have thought about an E-bike or moped where I don't have to have a license to drive, which is great for 5-7 months of the year, but they don't work worth a #$%* in a meter of snow not even with a ski on the front. And when I hit the point of no car it's either a Gulag or the ice flows. (at the moment I would feel it would be too chicken #$%* of me to live with my daughters). Like I said tell him I feel for him.

Thanks Bill, (and Steve too) I'd thought about an electric scooter for Dad, but even though there was a really cool fully enclosed one for sale at the local mobility scooter joint, because of his Parkinsons/Dementia, he wouldn't be able to operate it. I think my Mum could still make use of one though, so once she hangs up the keys for the old Triumph TC2500, she could still get around on one.

I reckon what you need though, is a fully enclosed, heated, rubber tracked "scooter"? I'd love to build something like that, if you can get yourself around inside the house, and only need it for driving to the store maybe something powered by a big Briggs and Stratton engine would be cool? Hmmnnn, now that's got me thinking............ ;D

They must've sent Global Warming to Darwin Stevo.
It's hot and humid here right now.

I've just finished mowing the back lawn and there's these dead brown patches of grass where the yippity yappity mongrel dog has been pissing on it.
I know that it's not Charlie because he only pisses on tyres.  ;D
Now the missus is telling me that she's gonna change the dogs diet so that it's piss doesn't kill the grass.
I told her that I'll give it a lead diet with the .458 Winchester Mag if I catch the fcuka pissin' on my turf.  ;D

That really pissed her off so I'll just have to go and have a cold beer all by meself until she settles.  ;D

It mainly gets dried dog tucker and then sometimes canned dog food.
The missus also gives it leftovers as well.
I think that it just keeps pissing in the same area which is why the grass is buggered in that spot.

Then there's ol' Oscar from next door who sneaks over here and lays a few Barker's Eggs (dog sh1t) around the yard.
He's a harmless old bugga but Charlie's got his measure and rounds him up when he spots Oscar leaving a deposit on the wrong side of the fence.  ;D
