One thing I'm not pissed off about is my Aldi cheapo coffee machine. My old one died recently so I went and bought another one, and the checkout chick told me to keep the receipt for warranty purposes. I replied that I wish I'd kept the receipt for my old one and she just said, "Bring your old one back with this receipt and I'll refund your money".

Woohoo! I put the old one (over 2 years old, so out of warranty, and very well used anyway) back in the box, took it back to Aldi and they refunded my 79 bucks! How good is that? So here I am, sucking down a tall latte and feeling pretty good right now, so much so that I'm having trouble trying to stay pissed off! ;D

That's the way to use their system.  ;)
They sell junk, they get to have it back.

KC -14 and it was colder than that the days before. It seems that if the blowing snow is not coming in from the Lake Huron side it's coming in from the Georgian Bay side. Grumble, Grumble.

Ok, I came here feeling generally Pxxxx off at the weather, and feeling the effects of not riding for some months now, but after watching the suzi video above, I'm feeling a little bit better. ;D

Ha ha, yeah mate, I made about a million cups of coffee with the old one so I wasn't too upset, but getting the new one for free was a bonus! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

You would have loved it Steve, the two American team captains (one was stoned off his face and turned up late for the "Welcome Dinner" last night, but that's another story) were raving about how much they love Phillip Island, so did John McGuiness (20 time Isle of Man TT winner) who was riding on the English team, and just about every other Phillip Island "First Timer". You'll have to add Phillip Island to your bucket list! ;D

Camping pisses me off. Now don't get me wrong, I've spent more time under canvas than most, because in my previous job, it was kind of expected. But camping when you don't have to, quite frankly, blows.

As you know, Brian (Bear) invited Pete and I to the Phillip Island Classic "Welcome Dinner" which I wouldn't have missed for the world. Sitting with him, the lovely Ev and his race team was fantastic, and rubbing shoulders with local and international motorcycle royalty, World GP and TT champions, listening to Alan Cathcart interview John McGuiness, (20 times Isle of Man TT winner, and he's only 40 years old!) hoping that Brian wasn't going to leap onto the adjacent table and throttle the folks who were talking loudly while we were trying to listen to the real entertainment, slowly sliding out of my seat after being constantly handed more free beer than a man should reasonably be expected to drink, all this will stay in my memory of things most enjoyed, for a long time.

The only downside was the necessity to organise some sort of overnight accommodation. Of course, there's not much hope of getting a nice hotel room locally because the PI faithfull book all of the available accommodation out every year. No biggie, I just decided to camp at the Island overnight, so I loaded my new "2 Person" tent, lightweight sleeping bag, foam mattress etc on to the mighty 'Wang, and away I went. After some minor problems on arrival (they weren't going to let me in as all the camp sites were booked out, but once again Brian saved the day) I pitched my tent beside Brian's new Caravan.

I've gotta say, my little tent looked cozy, so while I wasn't actually looking forward to the prospect of spending the night under canvas, I wasn't too "anti" either. Probably because of my military past, I chose a tent which was very low to the ground so instead of just walking into a bigger tent, it was necessary to pretty much lay down and sort of roll into it. Being old and fat and broken this wasn't as easy as I'd liked, but once I was in, it was OK.

I used one of those little "headlight" torches that allow you to shine the light where you're looking and thus leaving your hands free to attempt to get in and out of a sleeping bag whilst in the horizontal position, or to retrieve your glasses from underneath you in the middle of the night, or find the zipper for the door so you can roll back out (after only rolling in 5 minutes previously when all that beer tells you it's time for another piss) etc etc.

Once horizontal, it wasn't that bad, but the next problem was that the ground wasn't quite level, so I tended to slide off my mattress in the middle of the night. This happened about once every 15 minutes or so, so I entertained myself for the remainder of the night by sliding off, and then rolling back on, my mattress and retrieving my glasses after I kept sliding on to them. How they survived is just a testament to quality craftmanship. Needless to say, not much sleep was had, so I was a little less than happy when Brian berated me at 0815 for the fact that I was still in bed? Bastaard!

Now of course anything that you buy at the Phillip Island circuit will cost you about 400% of what you'd pay anywhere else, and the queues are approximately 5 miles long for anything to eat or drink anyway, but due to my excellent observation skills, I had a plan. I got out of bed, washed my face with some bottled water, put my jacket and helmet on, and rode back a few miles toward Melbourne to a little general store where I'd stopped the previous day for a coffee. I'd noticed that they had a breakfast menu, so decided that this would be where I'd enjoy my morning repast, while watching all the motorcycles parade past on their way to Motorcycle racing Valhalla.

The lady behind the counter (I was the first person there, so got served immediately, thanks for waking me up Brian!) suggested I try the "Big Breakfast" and while I wasn't starving after eating a nice meal with Brian and Pete at the dinner, I thought, why not? I also ordered a large cup of coffee, and enjoyed a cigarette or 2 while waiting for my meal.

Well eventually my "Big Breakfast" came out, and I almost fainted! If you know me, you'll know that I have a healthy appetite, especially for anything that will kill you. What was now in front of me, was something that should have been labelled with a health warning and a picture of some disgusting blocked internal organ. Holy shiit, there was two eggs, three or four (maybe more) full rashers of bacon, a couple of large hash browns, a pile of buttered toast, a piece of steak, a heap of buttered mushrooms, and a couple of fried tomatoes!

I did my best, but the lady still scolded me for leaving half behind. Seriously, I was that full I struggled to swallow my last couple of mouthfulls of coffee, and when I went to light another smoke, I discovered that I couldn't breathe! Anyway, good thing was that I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day, and thus saving myself from the sharks that have crawled out of the surf and into the cafes at the PI circuit.

Now normally I only ride to the Classic for the Sunday's racing, so on my way home with my tight belt and my poor sunburned face I asked myself whether I'd do it (camping) all again next year, and as much as I loved the welcome dinner and my massive breakfast, I really can't decide. I might have to do some research into alternative accommodation possibilities before I commit myself, because camping truly pisses me off! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That sounds like you had a eventful and memorable trip mate.
I gotta say that 2 man tents piss me off as well.  ;D
What I did was to buy one of those big lads that you can stand up inside of, and then when you fall over from having too many beers, there's a good chance that you'll fall straight onto the blow up mattress.  ;D
The only problem with a big tent is that you'd have to hook a tandem trailer onto the Wang to transport the bloody thing.  ;D

Anyway, we headed out bush and did some camping for the Aussie Day long weekend.
The weather bureau mob reckoned that it was gonna bucket down with rain now that the monsoon has settled in right over the top of us.
No problem, that's what tarps are for to keep the rain off a bit.
So we set up camp, and after knocking down about 11 stubbies, the tent was up, tarps were roped up between the trees and we were all set.  ;D

Then the wind started blowing fairly strongly with a nice cool breeze and a few spits of rain.
Then some more wind and a bit of rain and then nothing.
Yep that was it.
Those big black clouds had gone right around us so after risking life and limb climbing up trees to string up these tarps, it was a waste of time.

Well as night fell, we lit the camp fire, fired up the ol' wood barbie and knocked up a feed along with quite a few more cold ales.
A bit of music and a few Wild Turkeys along with some bloody tall stories, we had a good night in the bush to celebrate Aussie Day.  ;D

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Beautiful work Mick, and I can't get over how green it is up in the top end, it's tinder-box dry here of course, and it's going to be hot again for most of the week to come. I'd be pissed off if I was a fireman around this time of year! ;D

I reckon that is was around about Oct/Nov just before the rain started to settle right in and it was as dry as a bone.
A big bushfire tore right through the place which started out near Camp Creek Station and torched the bush.

It's bloody amazing how the bush recovers after a good soaking.
The creeks and billabongs are full and the crocs are on the move now.
I've only ever seen Freshwater Crocs out that way and some big buggers too.
Those Cane Toads kill 'em when the ol' croc has a feed on 'em.
We pulled half a dozen dead crocs out of a billabong a few years back and got the Conservation mob to do a Post Mortem.
Every croc had snuffed it from Cane Toad poisoning.

See on the news that a 12 year old kid got taken by a Saltie yesterday out near Mudginberri.
It's an unfortunate thing to happen but they ignore the warning signs and still go swimming in croc infested waters.
Now all we'll hear about are the wankers blaming the bloody crocodile.
They piss me off with their carry on.  ;D
If I was you

Yeah, I saw the story about the kid who got taken, apparently the cops were told to kill any crocs over 4M, so they've already knocked off a few of the old monsters, which is sad. Those fcuking Cane Toads piss me off, when I lived in Brisbane I used to hunt them with my old BSA .22 calibre air rifle and dump their smelly little carcases in my poofter public servant neighbours wheelie bin that they conveniently located under their house. ;D

All you blokes banging on about frogs and crocs.....ffs, I've had REAL drama in my life.
It all started last Friday morning, when a mate and I were on our way to Phillip Island for the classic races.
He stayed at my place the night before for a quick getaway, and after leaving around 5.30am, 2 bikes in the trailer behind the mighty V8 ute (pick-up), we arrived at the little river town called Tailem Bend at 7am, the ute requiring a drink of 98 octane and me requiring a piss (I knew I could weave that word into this story somehow),
As we entered the 80kph zone we noticed this rather feral looking HD rider leaving a roadhouse on the other side of the road and head into the roadhouse that I was turning into. He had a certain patch on his back that shall remain nameless in the interests of hanging on to my current life expectancy, but in this roadhouse were a few of his mates, all looking equally feral and fugly.
As I was filling up the beast I noticed this particular 'outlaw' heading into the toilets, so made sure I spent a few more minutes shaking the petrol hose before I went in to shake mine.
He then came out, so I finished what I was doing, and my mate went in to pay while I went for the more urgent piss. At the same time the feral bikie decided he was going to go back in the toilets - WTF?
Of course, being the unluckiest person in the world meant that we arrived at the door at the same time, whereupon, he held the fkn door open for me and then grabbed my arm with his paw (which was about the same size as two of mine). It was at this point that I nearly pissed myself.
Trying to be super cool, I said something like (although it came out a bit squeaky and stuttery) 'hey man, what's happnin?' and he says "hey man, do ya want a line?".
Now, me being caught off guard, and somehow trying to hold my bladder closed, I had no fkn idea what he meant, and the look on my face must have said it all...so he says "coke man, you want a line of coke?" All I could muster was "er, no thanks" (I don't even DRINK coke that time of morning, haha) and continued inside to have this now very urgent piss. He followed me in with one of his even fuglier mates, at which point my bladder decided to freeze up and no piss was to be seen.......standing in a toilet with my cock out not doing anything with 2 large ugly 1%ers behind me is not fun. Phillip Island was looking like a distant dream that just wasn't going to happen.
Then the 2 of them went into a cubicle together....and as I slowly zipped up and tried to appear invisible and walk through the wall back to the car, I noticed them about to snort some coke off the toilet seat.....my pace increased, and I was out of there quicker than I thought possible, with my mate in the car waiting and him saying to me "wtf happened, you looked like you've seen a ghost"...
So there's these 2 bikers, living the dream, Harleys, coke, toilet seats in a little roadhouse in a little town....all at 7am.....living the dream. :o ::)
I wonder how many pubes got sucked up their nostrils at the same time.... :o
What pissed me off is I had to stop at the next town to have that piss, and that cost us time.

But the rest of the weekend was a hoot - great to catch up with Tez, Bear, Adam, Scott, and lots of other mates that I only see once a year...and I got to ride the R around the track on the parade lap...in record time...well it was a record for me cos it's the first time I've been on that track haha.
We were instructed to do it slow and no passing, and some of us managed to do that....almost.
Top weekend.
Cheers
Peter. ;D

Of course it gets cold and snows where it ALWAYS DOES!!! DUH!

It does this... EVERY /SINGLE YEAR in WINTER!!!!
