Yeah Dave, being a manly man I didn't wear gloves, so I got pretty scratched up in the process, so I rubbed the snot from the leaves on the scratches, and it soothed the pain, not that I noticed it of course.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That's the best news that I've heard all week mate and to see that fcuking wasps habitat looking like a train wreck makes ya wanna crack a Ballarat.  ;D

I was mowing around the horse stable on Saturday and reversed the ride on mower into this vine that was growing on the fence.
In that vine, was a fcuking Paper Wasp nest and these angry fcukers came out and peppered my forehead and face.
So I grabbed a lump of timber and smashed the fcuk outa the vine but this nest was stuck on real good.

By this time, there was whole fcuking army of 'em on my case and I was outnumbered big time.
The way to deal with being outnumbered is to bring in the heavy artillery.

Up to the shed I went and grabbed a can of WD40 and a cigarette lighter.
Here ya go you cnuts, have some of this.  ;D
Once the job was done on the fcuken Paper Wasp nest, the joint looked like Dresden when it got firebombed after WW2.  ;D

Then yesterday morning when I got up, my head looked like it had been punched in by Mike Tyson with all of the lumps and bumps. (It does anyway  ;D)

The good thing is that Terry's fcuken wasps have fcuked off and or fcuken dead while my fcuken wasps are all fcuken dead and everything in the world is good again.  ;D

The aloe bush is quite pi##ed off with Terry about now.....  especially since the wasps were in the tree next to it ;D

old filthy PBR rear self adjusting brakes piss me off?hadnt done mine for a while(near ten years!) and id had new bendix shoes,RDA drums and wheel cylinders sitting in the shed for a good few months but the thought of the filthiness was putting me off until today,boy im glad I did!cracked right through linings on three shoes and only one of the four cylinder pistons moving the others were seized solid!the old holden pulls up squarely and with less pedal effort now,im still pissed off with all those springs/equalizer bars and self adjusters though,i forgot what a #$%* around they are,what a friggin arse around way of stopping a car?
no pictures my hands were too filthy!

Yeah Dave, I haven't owned a car with rear drums since I sold my mighty XY, but I inherited my dad's 1984 XF with rear drums, so once I drag it out of Dad's garage I'll probably need to check them out, while it's only done 114,000 klicks since new, they're probably seized after sitting in the garage for the last few years. ive had this car for that long I made up years ago spring hook tools for the rears,and a pressure bleeder that's bleeding well great!it pisses me off I let them go so long though without proper sevice,i think youd be hard pressed finding some place that could assemble these brakes if given a basket case?or even understands leading trailing shoes etc?

I'm just pissed,  :D

My first Falcon, a 1967 XR (ex-cop car, white exterior, blue vinyl interior, rubber floormats, bench seats and 3 on the tree) had unboosted drums front and rear, and I was always surprised that I did so many round trips from Melbourne to Sydney without shoving it up someone's arse.

I don't know if it was a chick magnet, but it made my missus scream when I had to go "off road" on the Mulgrave Freeway from 60 MPH to avoid a sudden traffic jam. I pulled up alongside the tenth car from the back, so it would have been an expensive lesson about the effectiveness of unboosted drum brakes, as I didn't have insurance back in those days either.

It didn't have a fan heater, or power steering, or aircon either, it really was a simple old device........ ;D

Dave, when I had my HQ I got sick of everytime I had to touch the rear brakes it was an absolute pain in the arse.  Also it would randomly back the adjustment off in the rear, and the pedal would disappear halfway to the floor.  In the end I had had enough and removed the self adjusting mechanism.  After that I would have to give the brakes a quick adjust about once a year, but always had a firm pedal. ;D

No mate, it never left me on the side of the road, it really was an amazing old beast. I made the mistake of giving it to my young brother in law when he turned 18 (I'd just bought an XB GS with a 302, my first Ford V8) and he loaned it to a friend who promptly wrapped it around a pole. Oh well........... ;D

I never liked that the xr had single circuit brakes even with the first"mustang"V8?i liked all those early fords though,the first holden v8 had dual circuit brakes though?even if the pads were smaller than a dart board bulls eye,all disc pads were that small then though?how many techs these days would know that you can back off over adjusted drums off by inserting a screw driver to press back the ratchet mechanism on the self adjusters from the outside and run the wheel backwards with no click?dumbarse new techs don't piss me off they just stay dumb!

I've owned 6 XR falcon's and fairmont's and all were disc brake 289 V8's, I still love them, there's something about that green glowing dash, not to mention that little V8....... 8)

im happy to say that as a dedicated holden bloke ive driven xp/xr/xt/xw/xy/xa/xb/ and liked them all but never an xd,i had to stop somewhere?i mean why spoil it?any ford after xb was crap anyway!

I've gotta agree with that Dave, I sold the XB and bought an XC GXL with a 351, and it was an unreliable, gutless pile-o-#$%*e. I got rid of that and bought the XY (I did dabble with a HG Monaro with HK Bathurst 327 engine and running gear before the XY, but I hated it) and the XY was the best Ford I ever owned.

I couldn't afford to drive it to Brisbane though, (11 MPG on a good day) so I sold it (and my LC GTR Torana) and bought an XA Fairmont with a 302, and once I turfed the auto and installed a single rail 4 speed box and Pedders suspension, it was a great tow car.

I've got a worked 351 Clevo in my mother in law's garage and I'm thinking I might install it in Dad's XF wagon? I'd like to keep it looking stock, but a bit more mumbo would be a nice thing......... ;D

If you want to can those self adjustors Dave, rotate the bottom spring 180 deg so that the spring coils sit across the adjustor starwheel and chuck the rest in a box.

the self adjusters would always bias or fail on one wheel when they wernt serviced correctly,and were marginal at best even when new,reverse and pull on the park brake lever was meant to square them up?it mostly resulted in one being over adjusted as the pivots wore and was total cock up,it seemed like a good idea at the time though which pissed a lot of mechanics off!
