You always have to be on the lookout for white tail deer in this area because as you can see they can get pretty big around here. :) These 2 had just gotten off the road right before I took the pic.

So what happened to Heather ?

Kev

Aah, the beautiful Heather. I was posted to a regular Army unit in Enoggerra, in Brisbane's north. We had an Army Reserve (part time soldiers, chocko's, cut lunch commando's etc) squadron, and for my sins, I was promoted into the Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant's position, mainly because none of my peers wanted to work there.

Heather was a Scottish born blonde Cocktail Waitress who worked at a couple of pubs and nightclubs around Brisbane. She wasn't particularly interested in military life, but the money was tax free, and the base was close to her home. She was employed as my "Store Person" (we can't call them "storemen" any more, as that's sexist, don't you know) and really enjoyed riding around Brisbane on the back of my bikes (Kawasaki L1 750 and Ducati 900SS) whenever we had to do a "Stores Run", which always terminated in lunch and drinks at the Breakfast Creek Hotel.

She didn't drive, so occasionally after work at the unit she'd get me to drop her off at one of the pubs that she was working at, in her little black dress and high heels. In return, she'd invite me inside and feed me full of free piss. Life was good. I think my missus suspected that we were "getting it on", but that wasn't the case, she was just my drinking partner, although the offer was there, but I never took her up on it.

I was posted back to Melbourne in 1991, but I had to go back to Canungra (near the Gold Coast) to do my Warrant Officers course afew months later, so Heather invited me to stay at her place for a few days before and after the course. I'd sold the Duke by then, and bought a BMW K100RT, which I rode the 1000-odd miles up to Brisbane, and spent the next couple of days drinking Coruba Rum with Heather and her new boyfriend, who seemed a bit put out by my presence. I went away and did the promotion course, and spent any free time exploring the local roads that Dave and Tim so enjoy, on the BM.

Once the course was over it was back to Heather's place for more drinking and eating at the Brekky Creek Pub, then Heather and her boyfriend had their engagement party at a Vietnamese restaurant in Fortitude Valley. I don't remember a lot about it as I'd been drinking long before we got there, but I had my last drink at 7am, went to bed, couldn't sleep, so hopped on the BM at 9am, said goodbye to Heather, and headed for Sydney. As magnificent a long distance bike as the BM was, I only got as far as Newcastle (500 miles) before I had to stop for the night, so I pulled into a little motel for the night.

If I'd been hoping for a piss-free night I would have been disappointed as the motel manager filled me full of piss before I collapsed into bed around midnight. I hopped back onto the Bavarian Murder Weapon and rode as far as Bairnsdale via Sydney (650 miles) and stayed at my folks place. I picked up a bottle of Coruba Rum at the local Bottle-O, and Dad and I had a pleasant evening talking crap, smoking cigarettes, and drinking Coruba Rum. Back on the bike around mid-morning, and did the 200 mile ride back to Melbourne, in time for work the next day.

I never heard from Heather after that, I don't know if she actually married her boyfriend, if she did, I didn't get an invitation (which would have been an excellent excuse for another great ride) but her boyfriend was a bit of a rabbit and Heather's mum couldn't stand him, so it was a tenuous relationship at best. I've been to Brisbane several times since, but have never caught up with her, which pisses me off, when I think of it........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Jeez Terry, that's a story and a half ! You haven't forgotten her then, that's nice. Much as I like a bit of a drinking session, I would have found the "offer" too much to resist. Call it a weakness of mine.

Well here's to Heather, God bless 'er.

Helping someone you assume knows what they're doing but doesn't can drive me crazy. Got a call from my father in law wanting me to come over and help get his scooter running, he had been working on it for 2 days and couldn't get it to fire up. I messed with it for an hour with no luck until I took a closer look at the handle bars and noticed an odd switch just above the starter button with strange symbols on it which made me go hhmmmmm. Nothing clearly said on/off like the red kill switch we have on the right hand control of our bikes just odd symbols so just for kicks I put the switch in its middle position ...... and it fired right up. DUH!! :o

It was my father in laws scooter so I had assumed he already had the switch on so I was pissed at myself that it took me an hour to realize it because it's normally the first thing I check and my father in law was thoroughly embarrassed with himself that he didn't think of it at all.

It can happen to the best of us Scott, back in about 1979 I was riding a Suzuki GT750 (water bottle, kettle, Buffalo, etc, depending on what part of the world you hail from) and my mate had a CB550. One evening we were riding into the city (Melbourne) to catch a band at a pub in Fitzroy, when we decided that an impromptu drag race was in order.

We took off, and he had the better of me when his bike suddenly died. He pushed it to the side of the road under a street light and hit the button, but while it'd crank, it wouldn't fire. Luckily he had a tool kit so he pulled off the points cover, and was fcuking around when I noticed his kill switch was in the "off" position.

I didn't want to interrupt him, so I let him tool around with it while I had a smoke, and when I decided that he was suitably pissed off, I casually leaned over, flicked the switch and hit the button, and it fired right up.

He'd most likely bumped the switch with his big rabbit fur lined gloves when he was wanging on the throttle and obviously didn't notice what he'd done, but I pissed myself laughing at his misfortune anyway, which probably wasn't very appropriate, but  WTF, that's what mates are for, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Back in the good old days (how many stories have been started like that) when proddie racing was proddie racing, I was racing my CB and we used to have a lot of fun coming alongside and passing mates down the straight and flicking their kill switches as you went past....you soon learnt to put some tape over them.....was a lot of fun but it pissed a lot of people off. ;D

I'm sure all of us have tried to start a bike with the kill switch turned to off.......well, all except me of course...... :-[ :-[ ::)

If you haven't stood there scratching your head trying to figure out why the bike won't start. Only to realise the kill switch was off then I'm sorry you haven't ridden. ;D

What really sucked about the whole deal was no sooner did I realize the kill switch was off that I got to putting it all back together and the spark plug resistor fell apart and now it genuinely had no spark so I had to head back home and scrounge around my spare parts shelf for for another spark plug resistor. Sometimes I wonder if I save too much stuff and just build up clutter but other times I'm glad I do save stuff.

I finally got my "red plates" (classic club registration and personal injury insurance) for my Yamaha FJ1200 and BMW K100RS SE this week.

I sneaked off from work early today (but I'll deny it if any of you fcuking stool pigeons tell my fcuking boss, then I'll come around and burn your fcuking houses down while you're asleep in your fcuking beds) and fitted the shiny new number plates and hooked up the battery charger to the FJ as I haven't had it on the charger for a month, in anticipation of a ride on both this weekend.

I went inside and flicked the TV over to the weather channel, and fcuk, It's only gonna be 14 degrees C tomorrow, (57 deg F) and pissing down rain! Fcuk I hate fcuking rain and fcuking cold weather. a man's not a fcuking Eskimo! Eskimo fcuking weather pisses me off! ;D

I could  provide an answer to your whining starting off by saying that's high summer weather in certain places but I won't Terry, as an aside to things is your military going through mindless cuts like ours is?

G'Day Bill, well I probably do sound like a whiner, but I do like warm weather and dry roads mate, it's really hard for me to drag myself outside in this weather, much less go for a ride.

Re: Government cuts, yep, it's happening in our military too mate, but the "soft target" in the military here are the public servants, and the APS are getting the razor through them for about the 6th year in a row.

I'd hate to be a pubic servant anyway, but especially not now, they're copping it up the arse. At the same time we're buying a heap of new fighter planes which seems a bit odd, our current fleet of Tiger Moths are still going well? Still I do like the look of those P51 Mustangs, but where does the navigator sit? ;D

It hit 11 deg C out here in the bush the other morning and it was fcuken pickadilly.
Track suit pants, singlet, wooly socks and a fcuken jumper with a hot cuppa.
I bought Charlie the dishlicker out with me for a piss and a sniff and he was shakin' like a Norton Commando.  ;D

It use to piss me off riding those fcuken Nortons because you'd always get an itchy sack and then climb off with half a mongrol on from the vibrations.  ;D

I've been trying to get some 7/8" flat bar to do a conversion on the Gordon frame kit for the triangle brace but no fcukas got any.
There's a sh1t load of 1" x 1/4" flat bar in the shed so I reckon that some of that is gonna have to get trimmed off to size.

What I wanna do is to bolt a piece of flat onto both sides of the cut.
It probably isn't necessary, but fcuk it, that's what happening.  ;D

A bloke came and slashed my back paddock the other night for 100 bucks.
After I'd fcuked around on the John Deere ride on and fcuked my back as well, I was saying to myself, FCUKEN DICKHEAD for not doing it in the first place.  ;D

Well, ya live and learn.  ;D

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

We had a cold day here yesterday, we had a frost for the first time in over 5 years.  I still had ice on my car when I went to work at 8, which is very uncommon for here.

I reckon that it's all of the snow in Vic that's cooling down up North mate with the cold air getting blown up here.

The weather in Darwin is pristine at the moment once the sun starts shining.
A few more months and the Wet Season build up will be starting.
The Barra and Mud Crabs will be on the go again.

Nothing a few coldies won't fix.  ;D

Yeah Mick, I never had a Norton, but my old Bevel Drive Ducati 900SS was the same, it was a typical 1970's Dago bike, but it's only saving grace was the Conti pipes and the handling, it would give you a fat just listening to it, and I used to have a ball undertaking blokes on big jap bikes on my weekend runs through Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious when I lived in Brissie.

Of course it fell to bits and (in 1990) the parts bill was $4750, and labour was "TBA". I walked past a BMW dealership (on my way to send the money to the bike shop in Brisbane) where there was a shiny 4 year old K100RT parked out the front. The salesman offered me a test ride, and after I came back I was hooked. The salesman told me they wanted 7 grand for it, so I started to walk off, he asked me how much I'd offer and I said, "How about $4750? He said "OK", and I rode it home.

I did 40,000 klicks in 4 years on that bike and it never missed a beat, then I traded it for a 1979 R100RS, and what a heap of schidt that thing was! It could have been made by Norton or Ducati! But that's another story........... ;D

We had a couple of 750 Commandos back in the early 70's.
They did fly from a standing start and gave the Honda 4's a bit of what for from a clutch dump off of the line.

Back in Pt Pirie, there was a straight section of road about 3 miles out of town that we called the Mad Mile.
I remember one New Years Day drag racing Nortons and Hondas along the Mad Mile until the cops came along and spoilt our fun.
They didn't bust us but just told us to piss off and be good boys.

2 of my mates had some bad prangs on Nortons which ended with broken bones and steel pins.
One other mate bought a 650 XS Yammie with a drum brake front when they were first released.
He did some miles on that and kept it on 2 wheels for the time that he had it.

I use to love that whistle from the Nortons on idle.
They had some grunt, but be fcuked, you always had a spanner on the fcukas.  ;D

That's the best news that I've heard all week mate and to see that fcuking wasps habitat looking like a train wreck makes ya wanna crack a Ballarat.  ;D

I was mowing around the horse stable on Saturday and reversed the ride on mower into this vine that was growing on the fence.
In that vine, was a fcuking Paper Wasp nest and these angry fcukers came out and peppered my forehead and face.
So I grabbed a lump of timber and smashed the fcuk outa the vine but this nest was stuck on real good.

By this time, there was whole fcuking army of 'em on my case and I was outnumbered big time.
The way to deal with being outnumbered is to bring in the heavy artillery.

Up to the shed I went and grabbed a can of WD40 and
e cigarettes lighter.
Here ya go you cnuts, have some of this.  ;D
Once the job was done on the fcuken Paper Wasp nest, the joint looked like Dresden when it got firebombed after WW2.  ;D

Then yesterday morning when I got up, my head looked like it had been punched in by Mike Tyson with all of the lumps and bumps. (It does anyway  ;D)

The good thing is that Terry's fcuken wasps have fcuked off and or fcuken dead while my fcuken wasps are all fcuken dead and everything in the world is good again.  ;D

Pretty impressive ..I am just counting how many times you have used fcuk..I think you love the fcuk and use fcuk all time..Thanks for such fcuk post..
