G'Day Spotty, I "Vee" the crack/break with a dremel, tip the powder in, and then just drip the superglue in, making sure it soaks thru (you can tell just by looking) and you're good to go, not mesh, tape, or anything else needed. You can also wet sand and paint it. I might break again either side of the repair, but the repair is super strong. ;D

Man, your repair technique looks far simpler than mine, but in my case, without the fiber mesh, you’d have to do section at a time no?
I sanded the repair areas, then I blue taped the painted side completely together then cut the mesh to cover the entire area and jelled the entire thing with one shot. First coat of paint is on, I’ll fine sand it tomorrow, and see how it looks.
For smaller simpler repairs, I’d try your process, but what is “carb soda” by another name? I’ve not heard of the stuff.

Thanks Mike, if you'd just taped it back together on the outside you could have done it in one go on the inside, and you could have sanded it back on the inside and painted it so you'd never know it'd been repaired. Give it a try next time, it's an instant repair, so no waiting for it to set. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Fark Bear, how long has your auto deal been held up now??!!

Between my procrastination and the god's conspiring against me it seems like a lifetime.
My only saving grace is that I got a firm shipping quote and I bought the bike when the Ozzy dollar was actually worth something.
The older I get the faster I was.

Who'd you get to do the shipping mate? I've been offered a very rare bike for free in the US, so I need to get it shipped ASAP. ;D

bi-carbonate of soda or baking powder

 Not baking powder, baking soda.

Hi,  An alternative to Baking Soda is a product I have used in Model Aeroplane building.  It's called "Micro Balloons", essentially very small bubbles of glass.  Used the same way, fill crack and dribble low viscosity Cyno onto it.  Very strong and fillets can be built up if desired.  It can be mixed with epoxy to make a lightweight paste too.

Well, since NZed is going into full lockdown in 24 hours I'm going to have lots of time and no spare cash. fark. I see a cleaning of the garage in my future which may probably be aided by a beer or two. Wish it was summer tho, that pisses me off.

No, it' s a 1978 Z1R-TC Brian, I bought some parts off a guy our vintage, he's had it in his basement for years and offered to sell i t to me, I t hanked him but explained that I couldn't afford it, he and I kept chatting, then he said if I organise the shipping, I can have it, for free. It's not mint, but he rode it for awhile before parking it, then moved on to Harleys. I won't get my hopes up until I'm sitting on it, but it might be wonderful. ;D

Well it’s not a concourse grade repair, but I’m good with it.
Those darn “K” decals are almost $35 for a set, but $15 shipping. It would take the eye away from the garage paint job, but $50? I’ll wait till I get sick of looking at it.

It looks good enough to me mate, good job! It's just a pity you don't have any of my home brewed "Ginger Slut" to celebrate with, but I'll down one, in your honor, your honor.......... ;D

Well thanks Terry!
Coming from a fellow that can home brew, and name his concoction “Ginger Slut”, when HE says it looks “good enough”, by golly it must be! So with that being said, have two!

Mr. Mike, There's a vinyl sign shop near here that made me several cb400f decals. I seem to have used them all now but it was way cheaper than aftermarket copies. I'd bet there is one near you too.

Don,
Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to do some searching to find out what they need to replicate the original. At least I imagine that’s what they’d need to copy.
Speaking of imagining, I heard from a friend who has a relative working for UPS, that the DHS sent some sort of logistical notification regarding the closure of state freeways or highways. I imagine that since that’s the most logical direction this whole thing will take, it wouldn’t surprise me of what my big brother wants to do next.
But on a different note, I took the big pig vtwin out earlier. You know, once you get down to the coastline, the world seems normal. Joggers, walkers, cyclists, RV’s etc. People on the pier....waves crashing, people surfing, very inviting scenery.
I told my wife, tomorrow we’re packing a lunch, taking chairs and going to the friggin beach! Cloudy, 55 degrees (12c), whatever, were going. And besides, the traffic is down to a minimal.

My one nephew was supposed to be returning from NZ in May, now it has pushed out to June at the earliest. My other nephew and his fiancee are in South Africa and they were to be coming to the US for his sister's grad from family Practice Residency and to be married here in the States at the end of June, now it is going to be July they hope.
I hope they both can get back.
Heard Panama is expelling all foreigners and they have 24 hours to get out of the country.

Conspiracy theories about Covid 19 piss me off. >:( >:( It wasn't made in a lab in the US or China. It most likely was transferred from a bat to a pangolin, and from the pangolin to humans at a live market in China.

Yeah, we've got a family of Pangolins living next door, smells like they're cooking meth, and they refuse to speak English. Very conspirational folks, and funny looking too, which makes them even more suspicious. I've had to get Geoff to make me some .50 cal bullets for my 1861 Snyder conversion just in case............. ;D
