CB350
« on: July 27, 2012, 05:20:47 AM »
I have a chance to buy a 1971 CB350.  It has wet varnish in the tank and surface rust on the chrome front brake cable is frozen.  throttle can be turned if you get a good grip.  Would need to be repainted.  No battery but otherwise complete 20,000 miles  Frame has significant rust particularly on the swing arm  kick starter seems to indicate compression and I would wager I could get the engine running easily. He wants $800 but I think $200 is closer to the truth.  What do you guys think?  I would like to have it but do not need it or have to have it.

Clear title? My guideline is:  no title-parts bike 100 to 300, titled 200 to 500.  800 is way out of line unless the bike is a non-runner but mint cosmetically.  My .02...Larry

bike has a title and all paperwork.  Po's po was his dad.  has not run in about 5 years but the seller says he has been thinking about fixing it.  Sound familiar?  paint is at 50% would have to be repainted but the painted parts are straight but tank edges have surface rust.

Also, I think that year had the CV carbs, usually one or both diaphragms are cracked-very expensive :o   I had a good diaphragm that I sold on Ebay for 80.  Pull the chrome caps off the carbs to make sure the rubber is not cracked and supple...Larry
