1973 CB350F running rich

Hey guys,

I have a 1973 CB350F in pretty good condition, but I have trouble with running fuel rich.  I bought this motorcycle as my first bike in March when I bought it it had pod filters on it with what seemed to be the stock exhaust (4-1).... anyways.  I expected it to run lean due to the pods, but it has been running rich.  I have adjusted the air screws and changed spark plugs, but the bike still runs rich.  Do I need to re-jet my carbs?  If so, I could use some help because I'm not sure about how to go about that.

My guess would be that who ever put the pods on, rejeted the carbs and went to big.

There have been a number of 350F folks who have lowered their float level to 23 and I think even 24.  You have an added obstacle of pods though too and the 4-1 exhaust isn't stock for that bike.  If you get into the carbs, please make a note of your jet sizes.  It will save you headaches when you pick up more bikes or have to get back into the carbs.  And I think Lucky has been interested in collecting folks' carburation set ups too.

Time to pull the carbs and see what is in there.
stock is #35/#75 jets
stock was 4 into 4 exhausts.

with pods and a 4 into 1 exhaust, #35's will be ok(with air screws out to about 1.75 turns), and mains at 90's or 100's...
if there are 120's or bigger mains in there, you'll need to come back down to ~100's

'78 750K (F3 engine) PD42b's, Modified airbox w/K&N  filter, 40/110 jets, 1 needle shim, IMS@ 1 turn out. Kerker + Cone 18" QuietCore

Yep, being at sea level would mean a step or two richer at most with a header and pods. I'd stay a tad on the lean side so when you increase altitude ever it will still run well. What about the needles?

Thanks guys.  I haven't opened up my carbs and taken a look at them yet, so it looks like I will get around to this on friday or saturday.  Btw, you guys have been awesome, but where would I get new carb jets?
